How to Disable and Prevent Anyone from Accessing and Tampering with the Windows Registry
Depending on the version of our Windows operating system, it is possible to disable access to the registry system in one way or another. The best and easiest way is to access the Windows registry from the registry itself. The first thing we need to do is open the Run window by pressing the Windows key + R and entering the command regedit.
Once we enter the registry, we will navigate to the following path:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
Then, double-click on the “Prevent access to registry editing tools” setting on the left side.
In “Prevent access to registry editing tools”, select Enabled in the top right corner, and then click OK.
Save the changes by closing the Windows registry, and from that moment on, we can see that when trying to access the Windows registry, we will see a window informing us that the computer administrator has disabled Windows registry editing.
