How to block emails from a specific sender in Gmail
Email is considered a powerful tool in the modern world. It is not only used for professional correspondence, but also for a variety of other purposes, including messages from friends or university, staying in touch with distant relatives or family, sending electronic files, and in general, tracking your accounts and online purchases. The ease of sending emails, and the fact that many people have more than one email address, means that your inbox can quickly fill up with spam and unwanted emails. So here’s how to block email messages from a specific sender in Gmail.
On the other hand, there are some email senders that you don’t want to receive any messages from at all. However, you cannot prevent them from sending you emails, but Gmail settings allow you to automatically delete email messages as soon as they arrive. Gmail has a simple yet powerful filtering system that you can use to manage incoming emails. We will use this to create a filter that deletes email messages from a specific sender so they never reach your inbox, or by blocking some unwanted email addresses.
Blocking an Email Address on Your Smartphone
Blocking a specific email address via Gmail means you will no longer receive messages from that account in your inbox. First, open the email from the sender you want to block, in the top corner (from the message, not the app itself), there will be a three-dot button. This button is also located on the same horizontal level as the sender’s email address. Simply select the three-dot icon to open the dropdown menu, then choose “Block [Sender’s Name]”. You will now no longer receive emails from this email address.
However, if you want to receive specific messages from this address, you will have to manually delete some email messages from time to time. If you change your mind and want to unblock the email, you will notice a dark gray banner above an incoming email from a blocked sender. Simply select the “Unblock [Sender’s Name]” option.

Filtering Annoying Email Addresses on Your Computer
To start, go to the Gmail website, then click on the arrow in the search box. Clicking on the arrow will open advanced search options. Enter the email address you want to automatically delete messages from, then click “Create filter” > select the checkbox “Delete it” and then click “Create filter” > a confirmation box will be displayed in the lower left corner of the Gmail website. That’s it! The filter has been created and any email messages from the selected address will be automatically deleted without being seen.
However, in Gmail settings, you can find all the addresses you have blocked by going to Filters and Blocked Addresses. To view and manage filters, go back to the main Gmail page, click on the “Settings” icon in the top corner of the site, then select “See all settings” > open the “Filters and Blocked Addresses” tab > then click on “Export” or “Delete” to manage your filtering settings.
