Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered Features Over 10 Hours of New Animation
Horizon Zero Dawn will be released on PS5 and PC in an enhanced version later this month, redeveloped by Nixxes Software. As the release date approaches, the studio shared more details on how they have improved and updated the open-world role-playing game that Guerrilla became famous for in 2017.
Of course, there are many details to delve into, as everything from the density of tree leaves and non-playable character behaviors to terrains and many other noticeable improvements have been witnessed. However, one area in particular that fans of the original game are likely to notice significant improvements in is the conversations held by the protagonist Aloy with other characters.
As previously confirmed, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will feature animated conversations captured through motion capture sessions, unlike the original release. Nixxes Software and Sony have now confirmed that there are over 10 hours of new motion-captured data in the remastered version, all directed and captured by Guerrilla at their studio in Amsterdam.
Lead Technical Art Director Mark Baselmans said:
“Horizon Zero Dawn has nearly 300 conversations and over 3,100 dialogue options, so we needed to find a way to seamlessly integrate this huge number of updated animations into the conversations. We created a tool using Python to process nearly 2,500 mocap files provided by Guerrilla to replace the original animations in the conversations, remove unused events, and replace them with the new animations and settings.”
