Hiding a Friend’s Posts from Appearing on the News Feed

We have previously explained this method in the article “8 New Tricks on Facebook You May Not Know”, but we will re-explain it in this separate article with some clarification and also explain how to show posts from this friend again. This means that you have full and partial control over what you see on your main page. Publishing this article at this time is a natural result of what is happening on Facebook in our Arab world, where politics is entering the Arab world and some people are misunderstood. But let’s forget all that and explain why you need to hide posts from a friend in general. You may have a friend who posts every minute! Or another who posts everything they find in front of them, and you do not want to delete them, but you want to prevent what they post from reaching you. Here you can easily control that you do not see what is posted on your main page. Let us explain it in the following lines.

First, there is a way through the main page by clicking on the arrow icon next to any post on your main page and clicking on “I don’t want to see this” or it used to be “Hide”, then click on “Hide all posts from..” And this way you will not receive any updates from this person on your main page. This is the first method.

But there is another better way with more control. You can go to the friend’s page you want to block their posts from appearing on your main page. You stop at the Friends icon, and here you are in control. If you remove the checkmark from “Show in News Feed”, then all updates from this person will be hidden on your main page. If you check the box next to it, you will receive updates from this person.

But if you want to control the quality of the posts you receive from this person, you put a checkmark next to “Show in News Feed”, then click on Settings, and then check the box next to All updates if you want to receive all updates from this person. Or check the box next to Most updates if you want to receive some updates from this person. Or Only important which usually means you will only receive very few updates from this person that have a high interaction rate with them.

You can also choose the type of updates you receive from this person, whether it be photos, status updates, games, videos, social events, etc. Here you control the type of posts that reach you on your main page from this friend. This method is a great way to block annoying posts from your friends without needing to unfriend them. You might have a disagreement with one of your friends and the hasty choice would be to unfriend them, which may cause you to lose them in real life as you lost them virtually. But choosing to hide the posts coming from them for a period of time until things calm down between you is the better choice.
