Hasbro’s HasLab reveals massive Ghostbusters Ecto-1 toy

The amazing Hasbro HasLab program has just announced another release, and this time our first thought was “this big twinkie.” The toy company has returned once again to the world of Ghostbusters, this time bringing to life the most iconic piece in the series, Ecto-1.
Oh sure, there have been Ecto-1s before. All kinds. But never has this happened in Hasbro’s sixth-scale Plasma Series. It measures approximately 24 inches long, 10 inches tall, and eight inches wide. It’s a beast, and as with all HasLabs, it’s full of all kinds of wonderful detail, extra add-ons, and more. The website writes: “HasLab has worked directly with our partners in Ghost Corps to create the most authentic, movie-accurate Ectomobile in a 6-inch scale.” “Our design team was able to visit and photograph the actual Ecto car, and boy, did they do everything on that car, as evidenced by the crazy scary amount of details included in this 6-inch scale replica.”
There are two versions available – Ghostbusters Plasma Series Ectomobile (Anniversary Edition) (baseline model) for $325 and Ghostbusters Plasma Series Ectomobile (Anniversary Edition) (Luxury model) for $400. Yes, it’s costly, but look at this kid and tell us it’s not worth it. These are just a few pictures.
For the money, it’s almost ridiculous not to go for the luxury model. For an additional $75, you get four brand new Ghostbusters characters that can fit inside the Ecto-1. Each of them is worth $20-25 each. Additionally, you’ll get a set of cool little trinkets that allow you to swap them out to the brighter, louder Ghostbusters II version. But, if you don’t want to spend that much, they both come with the awesome library ghost character plus Slimer, and if the project is fully funded within two weeks, you’ll get a Louis Tully character. That’s… $400 alone.
But, yes, this is HasLab, so it’s big and expensive and not guaranteed. It only gets made if 12,000 people support it within 45 days. But since 3,000 people have already backed it as we write this and it’s only been a few hours, we imagine it’ll hit that goal very soon.
