The Dirty Bracelet
To start searching for the decaying bracelet, you first need to head to the third floor. From here, move to Examination Room 5. You will find the key to the inner first-floor wing on a table there. Pick it up but continue to enter the adjacent Examination Room 4 first.
Here, you will find a note explaining that one X-ray image is missing, with another image underneath. Pick up the hip X-ray and place it next to the other X-ray images on the wall. The idea here is to align the marks on the X-ray images with those on the board. Move the three until they match. Nothing will happen immediately, but it’s good to have them aligned beforehand.
Now, you must return to the first floor and enter the inner wing. Check the newly opened Examination Room 1 to capture the strange At Least She Was There image and health drink.
You can access there through the hallway by opening the closed door between the break room and the lockers room. From here, you can continue searching for the decaying bracelet and bloodstained bracelet, although we will focus first on the decaying bracelet.
First, head to the doctors’ break room on the right. Inside, you will find a note related to a keyboard arrangement, which contains nine circles with a line extending from the top right, to the center circle, then down to the bottom left, and then moving once to the right to reach the bottom center circle. While this can be read from the top or bottom, you must start from the top.
Match this arrangement with the keyboard, and the code will be 3578. This will be used at the nurses’ station on the second floor, but continue exploring the first floor for now.
After visiting the doctors’ break room, head to the storeroom to find the mold remover in the clogged food elevator. You cannot use it yet, but you will need it later. Now you can return to the nurses’ station.
Enter the code 3578 and proceed. Move from the nurses’ station directly to the treatment room to capture the decaying X-ray image. As expected, this is where you will use the mold remover. Combine the two to obtain the clean X-ray image. You can now return to the X-ray room on the third floor. You are nearing the end.
Now, you can place the clean X-ray image on the X-ray board and match it with the marks on the board. After aligning all four X-ray images, you will see a number – 4, 37, 12. Go to the lock next to room D1 and enter this number in order: right, left, right. Inside the room, you will find the decaying bracelet to take.
The Bloodstained Bracelet
To find the bloodstained bracelet, you must start on the first floor in the Inner Ward area. You will need the key to the first floor in the Inner Ward area, which you can find in Examination Room 5 on the third floor. After getting the key, return to the entrance of the Inner Ward.
From here, you must head to the pharmacy. There you will find a water tank that requires a specific item to be used on it, which you do not have yet. Continue moving through the window and head to the pool. There will be many enemies in this area, and the darkness and rain will make it difficult to see and hear the enemies, so be cautious.
When you enter, go straight to the shower room where there is nothing you can do in the pool at this time. Inside the shower room, you will find a medical tube. This may not be clear at first, but you must combine the tube with the curved needle to create a medical tube with an attached curved needle.
Now, return to the pharmacy and use the newly created tool, the medical tube with the curved needle, to fish out the maintenance key from the drain. With this key, return to the pool to be able to open the maintenance hole and empty the pool.
After emptying the pool, descend into it and break the eerie eye to reveal the bloodstained bracelet. After obtaining it, you can return to the director’s office on the second floor to solve the final puzzle in the Brookhaven Hospital.
Opening the Director’s Safe
Upon returning to the director’s office, you will face one of the most complex yet highly satisfying puzzles in Silent Hill 2. To begin, approach the arm on the desk.
The idea here is to align the bracelets with the marks already on the arm. Place the bloodstained bracelet at the top, the distinctive bracelet in the middle, and the dirty bracelet at the bottom. Your next task is to rotate them.
Along the wrist of the arm, there is a part where the paint has peeled off. You must align the readable parts of each bracelet with this part so that the numbers are clearly visible in a single row. Rotate the bracelets until you read from top to bottom: 92, 45, 71.
The hand will open and give you the key to the director’s storage room. Use it to access the side room, where you will find the missing button for the safe across from the director’s office. But this is not enough to solve the puzzle yet. Turn towards the wall to find a bookshelf containing a series of unordered books.
Align the books to complete the animal image, so that the symbols on the book spine match the corresponding numbers. This cipher is what you finally need to open the director’s safe. Now, return to the main room to solve the puzzle and open the safe.
Note:
James will record the symbols in order on his map, making it easier for you to refer to it without the need to go back and check repeatedly.
The next step is to input the numbers from the bracelets in order from top to bottom into the safe. With the numbers being 92, 45, 71, you must input the following symbols:
- The triangle containing a circle inside and outside.
- The lowercase ‘h’ with a small line crossing the longer part.
- The symbol representing ‘male’.
- The circle with a dot in the center.
- The symbol representing ‘female’ with a small arch stable on top.
- The circle with a line crossing through the center and a line around the right side of the circle.
Upon entering this code correctly, the safe will open to give you the rooftop key. The direction you need to head in now should be clear.
Chasing Laura
After resuming the quest to find Laura, head to the rooftop via the third floor and progress through it entirely. Before entering the small room on the opposite end, make sure to take a look at the broken fence at the rooftop edge. This will trigger a locked camera and create an unclear effect on the screen.
Afterwards, proceed to the inner room and read the note here. With no place else to go, return to the rooftop.
Unexpectedly, Pyramid Head appears again to punish James, throwing him across the floor he was standing on, causing him to fall again to the third floor, but this time on the opposite side of the closed door where Laura was behind. Strangely, Pyramid Head helped in the search for Laura, whether intentionally or not.
As you move forward, quickly stop at Room I3 and examine the bloody fingerprints to activate another locked camera and the unclear screen effect.
At this stage, you are about to conclude the Brookhaven Hospital area. If you want to continue exploring any optional items you may have missed, you can unlock a shortcut through the hydrotherapy room. You must do this to be able to use the save point on the other side anyway.
Once you are confident that you have explored everything, proceed in the corridor to find Laura and prepare for the boss battle in Brookhaven Hospital.
