Google to Delete Apps Requesting Access to SMS Messages and Call Logs on Users’ Phones

When users install apps on our Android devices, we give them a series of permissions so they can function properly. Among the permissions we grant are access to SMS messages and call recording, which were originally intended for use in messaging and phone call apps.
However, the reality is quite different, as it is at least strange that we have granted the above-mentioned permissions to apps that have nothing to do with phone calls or messaging.

But that is about to change, as Google has indicated that in the coming weeks, apps on Google Play will be removed if they violate the new policies on SMS or call recording permissions, unless it is truly necessary for their operation.
In this sense, Google has been in touch with developers since last October via email, giving them 90 days to make the relevant changes to their apps or they will be deleted. Google aims with this move to allow users to have more control over their data, and to feel safer when using apps they install and to avoid potential data leaks.
