Google Pixel phones record their highest quarterly sales since launch

Google Pixel phone sales witnessed a significant growth in the third quarter of 2024, achieving the highest quarterly sales in the company’s history, coinciding with the launch of the Pixel 9 series, according to a new report from Counterpoint Research.

Google achieved this milestone through two separate launches. In May, the Pixel 8a was launched, which saw strong sales during the summer months. In August, Google launched the Pixel 9 series, which made a clear impact in the market.

It is worth mentioning that Google does not release official numbers regarding its smartphone sales.

In 2023, Google achieved an important milestone by selling around 10 million Pixel phones for the first time in one year, and won the “Best Smartphone” award at the MWC conference at the beginning of 2024.

The company is currently experiencing significant growth in Japan, along with increased sales of its phones in North America.

On a global level, the smartphone market saw a 2% increase in the third quarter of 2024, which is positive news after a long period of declining demand.

The top five companies in this sector are maintaining their positions, with Samsung leading at 19%, a slight decrease from last year, while Apple’s share remained at 16%, and Xiaomi’s share increased to 14%. Oppo and Vivo ranked fourth and fifth with a market share of 9% each.

The Counterpoint report also noted that Motorola and Huawei achieved a 30% annual growth, with Motorola recording its highest sales volume in a quarter in its history.
