Google Chrome can help alleviate pressure on browsers.

Google engineers have made several changes to the Chrome browser in recent months, but there may be a design change that surprises some users.

As leaked in the past few hours, Google Chrome will introduce a new compact mode that reduces the height of the browser’s user interface to allow more space for web content.

This was suggested through a Chrome Gerrit update, where a direct reference is created and what this compact mode will consist of is explained.

Specifically, labels like “Compact Browser Mode” have been found, along with a description like “Reduces the height of browser controls (tab bar, toolbar, bookmarks bar, etc.) to allow more space for web content.”

Compact mode in the browser is not new, as Firefox experimented with it a long time ago, although they later removed part of it.

At that time, Mozilla cited “Low Engagement” and “Need for Simplicity” as reasons for the partial removal of this compact mode.

One of the upcoming changes to the design of Google Chrome may include this, as it appears that Google wants to make some changes to it.
