Goodbye Android: Huawei to officially transition to HarmonyOS on December 16th
Huawei has been talking about HarmonyOS since the United States imposed the embargo. Although they claimed they could switch to the mentioned operating system “within days,” the maturity of this system takes longer than expected, as it was first announced on Honor TVs, and plans to reach smartphones in 2021.
Now, according to Gizmochina, Mai Yumin, Vice President of Software at Huawei, announced that HarmonyOS will arrive in a trial phase for the Huawei Mate 40 and its Pro version on December 16. The arrival of the long-awaited new operating system after the U.S. veto is historic for the first time.
One of the software executives at Huawei announced the arrival of HarmonyOS to mobile phones. The first phone to receive the trial version will be the Huawei Mate 40, the company’s current flagship model, including the Pro model. The company’s plan is to gradually replace Android with HarmonyOS.
The necessity of dispensing with Google services accelerated the transition to this system, which Huawei does not intend to use only on mobile phones but also on computers, TVs, home appliances, and more.
