Who is the Roblox Character or Avatar?

The Roblox avatar refers to the entity that players can use to represent themselves within the online experience. It wasn’t long before « avatars » were officially known as Roblox characters. So, we will use both terms interchangeably in our guide. But in the end, a Roblox character, or an avatar, or even a Robloxian all refer to the same player entity.

Roblox avatars have a human-like appearance with one head, two legs, and two arms, but with a blocky design, resembling the game Minecraft to a large extent. You can customize them however you want. From facial expressions to clothing, everything is adjustable. Moreover, all characters can equip tools, items, and accessories to make them truly stand out.

Types of Roblox Characters

Roblox has two main types of characters:

The characters of type R6 follow a classic design with a more blocky style. On the other hand, R15 characters have a modern design that resembles human bodies more closely. Let’s go over each of them to understand how they impact your gaming experience.

R6 Character

R6 avatars in Roblox have a simple design that follows the classic blocky style of the game. This type of avatar consists of only six limbs, limiting movements and customization. So, if you don’t mind some restrictions while experiencing the classic Roblox style, you should choose this type of avatar.

R15 Character

As you might have guessed, R15 avatars in Roblox have 15 limbs instead of the traditional six, allowing you more creativity in customization, accessories, and movements. Due to the creative freedom, most players today prefer this type of avatar over the classic design. Additionally, you can achieve a blocky appearance or a humanoid model.

Collision Boundaries

Collision refers to the interaction of player models with their environment and with other players. It is particularly useful in player versus player (PvP) combat, where you need to consider any part of the character that can be hit before attacking another player. Fortunately, Roblox has released official models with collision boundaries that facilitate understanding this. All the boxes surrounding the character’s limbs are hit areas (or what is known as collision boxes).

Customizing Your Roblox Avatar

• Males: Pal Hair, Blue and Black Motorcycle Shirt, Smiling Face, Dark Green Jeans, Male Package.
• Females: Chestnut Cake Hair, Gray Striped Shirt with Denim Jacket, Smiling Face, Pink Jeans, Female Package.
• Undecided: « My Favorite Pizza » Shirt, Smiling Face, Black Jeans, Skyler Package.

These free items give you a starting point for customizing your character. From there, you can tailor it as much as you can imagine. Or at least until your creativity reaches the limits of the Roblox store. But more on that later. Customizing Your Roblox Character on Windows and Mac

Follow these steps to customize your Roblox character on Windows and Mac using your web browser:

1. First, go to the official Roblox website. Then, open the hamburger menu (the three parallel lines) in the top left and select the « Avatar » option.

2. Inside the avatar editor, you can use some basic options to modify clothing and body shape. Click on items to enable or disable them.

3. Then, use the menu at the top and select the parts and accessories you wish to modify. Hovering your mouse cursor over a header will expand the menu to show various options underneath. Click on the options that interest you.

4. If you want to purchase new customization items, click on the « Get More » button to get more items and clothing that can be equipped in your inventory. This will take you to the Roblox Avatar shop where you can buy or get items for free.

Customizing Your Roblox Character on Android and iOS

Follow these steps to customize your Roblox avatar on mobile devices like your smartphone using the Roblox app:

1. To start, open the Roblox app and tap on the user icon in the middle of the bottom navigation bar.

2. Then, on the « Avatar » page, click on the « Customize » button represented by your character’s figure.

3. Now you can use the menu below your character to customize your Roblox avatar. Clicking on each option will customize the selected items. However, you won’t see any items if you haven’t purchased anything yet.
