L’extension Elden Ring : Shadow of the Erdtree booste considérablement les profits de Bandai Namco.

At the beginning of this year, we witnessed the launch of the Elden Ring expansion, Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, which quickly became the largest expansion in FromSoftware’s history.

It seems that the commercial performance of Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree has exceeded the publisher’s expectations as Bandai Namco revealed today that the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion has continued to achieve excellent sales, also contributing to an increase in the sales momentum of the original game. This has impacted the company’s profits and revenues positively.

As a result, Bandai Namco Entertainment revised the company’s profit expectations for the fiscal year ending on March 31, 2025, which were announced on August 8, 2024. This was based on the success of the Shadow of the Erdtree game in markets worldwide. Additionally, the expansion contributed to increased sales of the core game, Elden Ring, which also performed well. Consequently, the company expects that the net sales, operating income, recurring profits, and profits attributable to the owners of the parent company for the second quarter (six months) of the fiscal year ending on March 31, 2025, will significantly exceed the expectations for that period announced on August 8, 2024.

The consolidated projections for the fiscal year ending on March 31, 2025 have been revised from those announced on May 9, 2024. This review was based on the second quarter earnings significantly exceeding the previous expectations, along with current market conditions, sales trends, and marketing plans for products and services in the third quarter and beyond.

In short, Bandai Namco raised their revenue expectations for the current fiscal year by 9.9% in sales and a 36.6% increase in operating profits, thanks to the commercial performance of the Elden Ring expansion.

FromSoftware expects a similar increase in revenues in the next fiscal year, mainly due to the success of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. The development team at the studio consists of 423 employees and is part of Kadokawa Corporation, a public company in Japan. Recently, it was reported that the Elden Ring developer increased salaries by 11.8% and provided more opportunities for new graduates.
