Crimson Desert can be considered a completely new single-player adventure game from the developer of Black Desert Online, inspired by distinctive open-world titles like The Witcher 3 and Assassin’s Creed. This game aims to be a spiritual successor to Black Desert Online.
Recently, developer Pearl Abyss shared new details about the role-playing game with its investors. In addition to rejecting an exclusive offer from PlayStation, the team also confirmed that Crimson Desert aims to provide at least 50 hours of gameplay.
According to the translated investor briefing, Pearl Abyss estimates the playtime to be between 50 to 80 hours, which aligns closely with the length of other open-world RPGs, although Pearl Abyss plans to turn the game into a service post-launch.
The studio also confirmed that the game will officially release in 2025, and players will explore many regions of Pywel during this time as they embark on unique adventures. The game features a plot centered around supremacy and control, putting players in the midst of a power struggle that could change their fates.
After release, Crimson Desert will receive a separate multiplayer mode similar to GTA Online, which will be connected to the studio’s plans to turn it into a service game post-launch. However, they assured investors that the single-player experience will have its own conclusion from the first day of the game’s market release.
