Destiny: Rising: Lancement de spéculations, de plateformes, de bandes-annonces, de gameplay et bien plus encore
The next chapter of the Destiny epic is approaching, but not in the way most Guardians expected. Instead of the anticipated Destiny 3 from the original developer Bungie, Destiny: Ascend has been revealed by developer NetEase Games as a free-to-play mobile game. While the mobile market has undoubtedly made great strides in delivering console-quality experiences, Destiny fans are cautious about how the massive live service formula will be translated. Perhaps more importantly is the story that some have invested more than 10 years in. Allow us to be your ghost to guide you through all the information you need about Destiny: Ascend.
Release Date Speculations
NetEase Games did not provide us with a release window for Destiny: Ascend when the game was revealed, so all we can do is speculate. Based on the fact that there was a closed alpha release in November 2024, we expect the game to be launched at least a year after that to allow for two more beta releases in 2025.
When an official release date or window is shared, we will update this section.
Platforms
The biggest change from previous titles is that Destiny: Ascend will be a mobile exclusive for iOS and Android devices. If you want to know if your specific phone model will be able to run Destiny: Ascend, check the official website here for details. There seem to be no plans to add any ports for PC or consoles, so make sure to charge your mobile device if you intend to get some legendary loot.
Trailers
The trailer mostly focuses on gameplay but includes some visually stunning and exciting action elements that look almost as good as its console counterparts. The biggest detail the trailer reveals is that we will not be creating our own Guardian as we usually do, but instead, we will play as specific characters. Some of these faces are familiar in the Destiny world, while some are new. There are a few we can look forward to playing such as Ikora Rey, Iron Lord Jolder, and Kabr. Each is said to have their own backstory and unique personality, so there may be narrative rewards for playing the story with each character, if not unique stories for each character.
Destiny: Ascend takes place in an alternate timeline to the main Destiny games, but also in the distant past. We will witness a different series of events, as humanity rebuilds from the collapse and works on creating the Last City. Being an alternate world, we do not expect Destiny: Ascend to impact the main Destiny lore too much (if any) but instead serve as a standalone narrative.
Gameplay
The transition to mobile did not radically change Destiny: Ascend gameplay. It remains an FPS game with a strong focus on unique abilities and weapons, although you can now also play the game entirely in third-person view if you prefer. From what we’ve seen, the game remains faithful in ensuring the core Destiny systems. There will still be open areas to explore, weapons and loot to grind for, and a mix of PvP and PvE content to enjoy. The game will have touch control options but designed with controllers in mind.
NetEase promises many of the same game modes we already know for both PvE and PvP content. This includes a new set of campaign missions, Haven Ops assaults, and a new raid-like mode called Gauntlet Ops. New modes we look forward to include Morgran’s Prey, Legacy, and Realms of the IX, but no details have been shared on what these modes will entail exactly.
Your loadout operations will be slightly altered in Destiny: Ascend, which now only allows for a basic weapon and a powerful weapon to be carried. Additionally, the types of weapons and abilities you have will depend on the character you are playing. The effects will dictate what superpowers and unique abilities you have, as well as a suite of perks.
Previous System
Destiny: Ascend does not have a release date or window yet, but there will be no need for pre-ordering even if that is the case. This will be a free game upon launch, so there is no barrier to entry.
