Everyone can explore Natlan after completing the Mondstadt Archon quests, which means that even if you are a beginner in the game, you can travel to Natlan after surpassing the Sumeru desert. However, to fully explore the story of the region, you will need to be at Adventure Rank 28 or higher and have completed all of the Liyue Archon quests.
When traveling through Natlan, you will encounter the tribes living there and coexisting with Saurians, creatures also known as Natlan dragons. While there are six tribes in total, only three of them will be available with the release of Genshin 5.0, and you will be able to identify them through Tribal Chronicles. This series of quests replaces traditional Story Quests and allows you to get to know each tribe by completing a mission across three chapters.
The unique feature in Genshin 5.0 is the Saurians and how you gain the ability to transform into the three forms associated with the tribes that were released as part of the update – Tepetlisaurus, Yumkasaurus, and Koholasaurus. (Try pronouncing these names three times!) This literally means that you will actually transform into one of these creatures, granting you access to their abilities in navigation and combat.
These abilities have proven to reduce the time spent traversing Natlan. After all, why waste time climbing a hill on foot when you can dig your way straight to the top? Fighting as a Saurian requires some getting used to and you cannot switch characters during it, but once you find your rhythm in combat, you will find Saurians to be extremely effective. However, keep in mind that while you can navigate freely as a Saurian in Natlan, you can only make transformations at specific locations. For this reason, it’s best to think carefully about your location when returning to human form to avoid spending time searching for the nearest transformation point.
As is the case in HoYoverse games, the new update adds a new set of characters that you can pull from Banners (and spend real money on if necessary). The first half of Genshin 5.0 introduces the character Mualani, a five-star Hydro element character with a Catalyst weapon, and the character Kachina, a four-star Geo element character with a Polearm weapon. You can recruit Kachina for free by completing the first chapter of Natlan’s Archon Quest. At the same time, the second half of Genshin 5.0 introduces the character Kinich, a five-star Dendro element user with a Claymore weapon, accompanied by a little dragon wearing digital sunglasses.

Mavuika
English Voice Actress: Katiana Sarkissian.
Element: Pyro.
Mavuika is the Archon of Natlan. In the teaser, she addressed the audience at the Natlan Tournament, challenged the Fatui Harbinger Il Capitano, and spoke of some mysterious floating flames at the end of the presentation saying: « With our blood… we shall forge our true destiny. »
Mualani
English Voice Actress: Cassandra Lee Morris.
Element: Hydro.
Weapon: Catalyst.
Mualani belongs to the « People of the Springs » tribe and has participated and won in the « Return of the Sacred Flame » journey multiple times, granting her the right to take part in the « Nightwatcher Wars. » She is also a close friend of Kachina.
Kachina
English Voice Actress: Kristen McGuire.
Element: Geo.
Weapon: Polearm
Kachina is a Geo Vision holder and belongs to the « Children of Echoes » tribe. She has the ability to ride a Geo structure like a small chariot and can even climb the cliffs in Natlan to speed up the climbing process! Kachina has tried several times to prove herself in the « Return of the Sacred Flame » journey, but did not succeed until the first Archon mission in Natlan. Kachina hopes to change this situation soon with the help of her close friend, Mualani.
Citlali
English Voice Actress: Skyler Davenport.
Element: Cryo.
Skyler Davenport seems to voice another character from miHoYo with pink hair! The distinctive voice tone of March 7th was immediately recognized, but Citlali seems to be quicker to anger compared to the cheerful March 7th character. In the character promotional clip, it seems that Kinich threw a ball at her house, which may explain her bad mood that day.
Xilonen
English Voice Actress: Beth Curry.
Element: Geo.
Weapon: Sword.
What does it mean to introduce a new character in Genshin Impact without revealing a cat-eared character? Xilonen was seen relaxing on a tree in the character promo, fitting with her laid-back feline nature. This is all we can share about her without spoiling the Archon quest in Natlan. But we can tell you that she travels on skis, if that will impact your wishes
Iansan
English Voice Actress: Katrina Salisbury.
Element: Electro.
Iansan seems to be a more important character than implied by her brief appearance in the Natlan characters teaser. All we saw was her getting hit by a ball while running in an unknown area, providing little details about her. She also participates in the Pilgrimage of the Return of the Sacred Flame in the Natlan Archon Quest, and seems close to Mauvika, the Pyro Archon.
Chasca
English Voice Actress: Lauren Amante.
Element: Anemo.
Chasca is part of the Flower-Feather Clan in Natlan, and veteran Genshin players may recognize her from her English voice, as Lauren Amante also voices Verr Goldet from Wangshu Inn. Chasca has a close relationship with her sister and is known as a « peace maker » among the tribes, despite her struggles with anger issues.
Ororon
English Voice Actor: Nathan Nokes.
Not much is known about Ororon except for his presumed relationships with Il Capitano. He stood alongside the Fatui Harbinger in the Natlan characters teaser, hinting either at being an ally or a rival.
Il Capitano
English Voice Actor: Chris Tergliafera.
Element: Cryo.
Also known as the Fatui Harbinger or The Captain. We already knew of his presence in Natlan thanks to Neuvillette’s information after the Fontaine story, so it will be very exciting to learn his role in the main storyline of Natlan. We wonder how this nation will be deceived this time to hand over the Gnosis?
