Comment utiliser les nouvelles fonctionnalités de confidentialité du navigateur Edge pour protéger votre vie privée

Microsoft officially released version 80 of its well-known browser Microsoft Edge, specifically on January 15 of this year. This version is based entirely on Chromium, which is essentially the foundation of Google Chrome. With this version, the focus on privacy has increased, as Edge includes tools to block first-party cookies used to keep you logged in or remember items in your shopping cart, and third-party tracking cookies used to track your browsing activity.

Here are guidelines on how to change your settings, find the paths stored on the browser, delete any cookies, and also how Edge deals with fingerprints, which is another tracking method that identifies users by collecting details about their system configuration. So, if you are interested, keep reading till the end.

Important guidance in Edge Chromium browser to increase the protection of your valuable privacy:

First: Dealing with tracking:

The new version of Edge comes with a tracking feature using one of the three different protection levels, the first being « Balanced » which is active by default upon installation, and takes into account sites you visit frequently as well as reduces prevention of tracking for institutions you regularly interact with. The second level is « Basic » which provides more relaxed control, still blocking tracking devices that Microsoft classifies only as « harmful », or you can switch to the third and final level « Strict » which blocks most external tracking devices across websites.

To change your protection level, simply click on the three dots in the right or left corner (depending on the language) of the browser, then go to settings, navigate to Privacy and Services, make sure to turn on the « Block tracking » option, and finally select the protection level you want, as shown in the image above.

And more importantly, there are other privacy features on the « Privacy and Services » page, including options to send a « Do Not Track » request, and choosing your search engine, and more.
