Deadline reports that Josh Brolin is now in « final negotiations » to play the main villain « behind the violent reality show » in the new version of the Edgar Wright film The Running Man.
Night Patrol
THR has word that Justin Long, Jermaine Fowler, RJ Cyler, Dermot Mulroney, and CM Punk will star in the independent horror film Night Patrol, directed by Ryan Prowess. The story follows a Los Angeles police officer (Fowler) who « must set aside his differences with street gangs in the area when he discovers that a special task force within the local police is hiding a terrible secret that puts the residents of the projects he grew up in at risk. The officer’s partner, recruited as a legacy in the night patrol, plays Siller’s role as the officer’s brother who sees things he shouldn’t, while Mulroney plays a key character’s grandfather, with many secrets. Punk assembles the cast as the officer’s brutal right-hand man.
Amulet
Deadline also reports that Jason Fox (Welcome to Derry) has been hired to write a film adaptation of Kazu Kibuishi’s comic book series, Amulet. The series follows « a young woman who discovers a magical amulet that belonged to her great-grandfather and uses it to enter a new fantasy world ».
