Many great movies in this list, you have until Halloween night to watch them before they disappear from Amazon Prime Video. The great thing about streaming service, which you can subscribe to on its own or as part of an Amazon Prime subscription, is that there is always a wide range of movies and TV shows, including library titles and originals. But when it comes to the former, sometimes they are removed from the service without prior notice. Consider this your red alert.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
Despite The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power being an Amazon Prime Video original series, the original film that started it all (based on JRR Tolkein’s book series) will be leaving the streaming service. Not only will The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring be leaving, but also The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, along with The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.
Basically, if you’re a huge LotR fan, you’ll want to make this weekend a movie-watching weekend because the films will be leaving the streaming service very soon. Start with the first part of the high-fantasy epic adventure film series, following the journey of Dark Lord Sauron (Sala Baker) in search of the One Ring and the young hobbit Frodo Baggins’ (Elijah Wood) journey to protect it.
The fate of Middle-earth depends entirely on Frodo and his friends traveling to Mordor to destroy the Ring before it’s too late. No matter how many times you watch them, LotR films are always captivating and entertaining.

21 Grams (2003)
Sean Penn stars in this thrilling psychological drama that explores existential questions about faith, science, and grief. Three individuals are involved in a hit-and-run accident and flee, each dealing with the shock they experienced beyond that event. The story of these three main characters, including Paul Rivers (Penn), a mathematician suffering from a serious illness, Cristina Peck (Naomi Watts), a recovering addict and grieving mother trying to overcome her sorrow, and Jack Jordan (Benicio del Toro), a former convict serving a life sentence. The born-again Christian is told through past, present, and future timelines.
With events in 21 Grams presented in a non-linear way, it’s up to you as a viewer to keep up with the three as they navigate their way through an interconnected and life-changing collision course. Nominated for Oscars for both Watts and del Toro, 21 Grams is a poignant and moving film with a unique narrative structure that keeps you invested.

The Barbary (2022)
A fantastic thriller horror film that can be shown on Halloween, The Barbary revolves around Tess Marshall (Georgina Campbell) traveling to Detroit for a job interview only to discover that the house she rented was double-booked. She decided to stay with the other tenant anyway, a man named Keith (The Crow (Bill Skarsgård) who makes her feel uneasy. When she discovers a hidden tunnel in the dilapidated house, strange things begin to happen.
The Barbary, which also stars Justin Long and marks director Zack Craig’s solo debut, has received overwhelmingly positive reviews and has been praised for its unpredictable plot. Digital Trends describes the film as one of « the most impactful genre experiences of the year… a mix of horror that seems at times like a modern riff on The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and at others a loving tribute to the horror-comedy genre perfected by Sam Raimi. Cape Fear (1962)
Cape Fear is a psychological horror film featuring the late Gregory Peck in his final cinematic role. Inspired by John D. MacDonald’s 1957 novel The Executioners, the film follows Max Cady (Robert Mitchum), a violent criminal who uses the legal knowledge he gained while serving a prison sentence to exact revenge on District Attorney Sam Bowden (Peck), whom he blames for his conviction.
Brave, exciting, and beautifully cast, Cape Fear was reimagined in 1991 by Martin Scorsese, with his version starring frequent collaborator Robert De Niro alongside Nick Nolte, Jessica Lange, and Juliette Lewis. But this original film transcends its time, with a sadistic rapist at the heart of the story. With a 92% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, the film is described by Bosley Crowther of The New York Times as a “calculatingly cold-blooded accumulation of sadistic peril and quivering dread.”

The Menu (2022)
Missed The Menu when it first premiered a few years ago, or want to re-watch it to pick up on some of its finer details or see if you can come to a different conclusion? The horror-comedy film revolves around a group of wealthy elites invited to a remote island by a famous chef for an exclusive meal he promises will change their lives. Along the way, Margot Mills (FuriousaAnya Taylor-Joy), a hired escort for wealthy child Tyler Ledford (Nicholas Hoult) who longs to attend. But when everyone arrives, they are faced with a horrifying scenario: they realize this may be the last meal they ever eat.
Chef Julian Slovik (Rivages(Ralph Fiennes) is troubled, and has a grandeur to match with everyone there except Margot. She has become a huge adversary, the only person willing to stand up to him and the only presence that will be collateral damage in his evil plan, causing him to feel some guilt towards harming her. Or does he? The ending of The Menu leaves you hungry for more, wondering what really happened and eager to talk to others about it.
