The ClubHouse application was only available for iPhones and allows listening to conversations as they happen live, similar to live podcast streaming, a feature that has been replicated in many social networking apps such as Telegram. It started spreading for the first time about a year ago during the lockdown.
The download numbers reached 9.6 million in February but dropped to around 922 thousand downloads worldwide as shown in the chart.
Therefore, the Android version was launched as a part of a beta test in the United States only at the moment, where the company is collecting feedback and will work on fixing any issues in the coming weeks.
However, according to the app’s policy, access is only possible with an invitation from a current user, as the company stated in a press release: “As part of efforts to maintain growth measurement, we continue to use the waitlist and invitation system, ensuring that every new member of the community can bring a few close friends. We plan to become more open, welcoming millions of other people from the iOS waiting list, expanding language support, and adding more accessibility features, so people worldwide can experience ClubHouse in an authentic way.”
