File transfer between two computers using LAN cable without router
In many previous topics, we have reviewed ways to transfer files between computers very quickly. One effective way is to transfer files over the internet at home. However, in the previous topic, some confusion arose about the need to connect through a router between the two devices. The truth is you only need a LAN cable to connect the two devices without a router. This process requires some very simple steps, which we will explain in this topic, after which you can transfer files between the devices at maximum speed.
First, connect the two devices directly with a LAN cable. Then, you need to adjust the network settings between the two devices by right-clicking on the internet icon next to the clock in your taskbar, then open Network and Sharing Center, then Change adapter Settings. Next, right-click on your connection point, then click on Properties, then choose Internet Protocol Version 4, then click on Properties, and finally, check Use the following IP Address and enter the numbers as shown in the image:
Next, follow the same steps on the second device, but make a small change by reversing the numbers between the IP address and Default gateway, and thus the steps are completed successfully.
Now a network has been created between the two devices, and you can easily transfer files between them by sharing files over the network and accessing and transferring files directly between the devices by going to Network and then accessing the device from the network.
Sharing Files on the Network
However, I have a better way that I use, which is to create a folder on the hard drive of the device you want to transfer files to and adjust the permissions of this folder on the network to make it readable and writable. By right-clicking on it, then clicking on Give access to, then clicking on Specific people, and then choosing Every one from the window, then clicking on Add, then clicking on Read and selecting Read/Write, the folder can be transferred to directly via the network.
Then I access the device I want to transfer from and copy the files to this folder, and thus they are transferred directly to the device without the need to share specific files and then go to the device I want to copy to. Let me explain the process.
Removing Password from Devices
By right-clicking on the internet icon next to the clock in your taskbar, open Network and Sharing Center, click on Network and Sharing Center, then click on Change advanced sharing settings, then click on All Networks, then check Turn off password protected sharing to disable the use of device passwords to protect shared files.
Certainly, this method is a great way to transfer files between computers easily, rather than other methods or buying an external hard drive and transferring through it. Also, the transfer speed is very reasonable and depends on several factors, including the LAN card and its speed, among other things.
