Explanation of the ending of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

The events of the game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order take place five years after the end of the Clone Wars, in the period between the previous trilogy and the original trilogy. Former Padawan Cal Kestis was living in hiding after escaping the Order 66 massacre that targeted Jedi. He worked as a ship dismantler for the Empire on the planet Bracca, where he hid his true identity and abilities. However, after being forced to use his Force powers to rescue his friend Prauf from a dangerous accident at work, he was discovered by the Inquisitors, who are Imperial agents trained to hunt down and eliminate remaining Jedi.

After his discovery, Cal finds himself in a race against the Empire and its pursuers, the Inquisitors, in an attempt to find a codex containing a list of children who possess special abilities and Force sensitivity throughout the galaxy.

The Inquisitors, The Mantis, and Eno Cordova

After saving Bracca from a deadly fall using the Force, Cal is almost immediately discovered by two Inquisitors: The Second Sister and The Ninth Sister. These Inquisitors, trained by Darth Vader himself, are Force users tasked with tracking down any Jedi who survived Order 66. Cal confronts the Inquisitors and their accompanying squad of Stormtroopers, and eventually is rescued by Cere Junda and Greez Dritus aboard The Mantis. Cere is a former Jedi on a mission to recover a Jedi Holocron, a device created by her mentor Eno Cordova.

The Holocron, which can only be read by Force-sensitive individuals, was created by Eno Cordova after having a vision about the fall of the Jedi. He created a master list containing all Force-sensitive children, and to protect them, he hid it in a vault on the planet Bogano. Cere believes that retrieving this Holocron is the key to reviving the Jedi system and eventually defeating the Empire. Cere needs Cal’s help in this matter, as she has completely shut herself off from the Force. She takes him to Bogano to search for clues on how to obtain the Holocron. There, Cal meets Cordova’s loyal droid, BD-1, which contains messages from Cordova. His first message leads the team to Zeffo, the planet home to the vault’s creators.

Zeffo, Kashyyyk, and the True Identity of the Second Sister

The second chapter of the game is a kind of chase where Cal and his companions are led from planet to planet in search of the key that will unlock the vault. On Zeffo, Cal learns about its ancient inhabitants and their connection to Kashyyk, the home of the Wookies. Afterwards, the team travels to Kashyyk and gets involved in a battle between the Resistance, led by Saw Gerrera from the movie Rogue One, and the Empire that enslaves the Wookies.

Cal learns that Tarfull, a Wookie, was in contact with Cordova and may know how to access the vault. However, after failing to find Tarfull, Cal returns to Zeffo.

There, Cal once again faces The Second Sister, who reveals herself as Trilla, a former Padawan of Cere. During the Clone Wars, Cere left Trilla with a group of younglings, and Trilla was captured by the Empire, tortured, and turned into the vengeful Second Sister. Cal barely escapes from Trilla, but is captured by a bounty hunter and is forced to fight in a gladiatorial arena. He is rescued by the crew of The Mantis, and coincidentally, receives a message indicating that Tarfull has been located. The crew returns to Kashyyk to meet Tarfull.

The Origin Tree, The Nightsisters of Dathomir, and Taron Malicos

Tarfull tells Cal to search for answers at The Origin Tree in the dangerous Shadowlands on Kashyyk. There, Cal finds a recording of Cordova explaining that the key, known as Astrium, can be found on a planet called Dathomir. Before he can escape from Shadowlands, Cal must fight and defeat The Ninth Sister.
