1 – Applications
You will notice a list of programs (tasks) that are currently running on your device. For example, in the above image, Windows Media Player is currently running on my device, so it is listed in the tasks. You can use this tab to close programs that are frozen or unresponsive (you will see “Not responding” next to these applications) by clicking on the application you want to close and then clicking on End Task. You can also switch to a program by clicking on it and selecting Switch To, or you can start a new task and choose the program or application you want to run.
2 – Processes
Here you will find a list of processes currently running on your device. You will also see the memory performance for each process, allowing you to identify which processes are consuming memory and the program associated with the process. To end a process, simply click on it and select End Process.
The Services tab within the Task Manager allows you to see the services associated with each process. This is helpful for identifying tasks that are consuming memory and processor resources. For regular users, this tab may not be essential.
4 – Performance
This tab helps you understand the performance of your device. If you notice your device is running slow, you can check this tab to identify the reasons for the slow performance. It displays the user CPU usage, memory usage, and system performance. If you find your device performance slow, you may refer to a previous article titled “Seven Steps to Make Your Computer Faster.”
5 – Networking
If you are connected to the internet, you can monitor the performance and speed of your internet connection through this tab.
In this tab, you will find all the users (account names) connected to your device. Through this tab, you can control other users (if you are the Admin) by closing their connection or sending them a message.
I hope this information is helpful and the explanation is clear. Now, I leave you with images of Task Manager in Windows 8.
