Mozilla recently launched new features for its Firefox browser that aim to make the user experience simpler, faster, and more secure. These features include Notes for quick note-taking, Voice Fill for voice search recognition and conversion to text. However, the most exciting feature is the Send tool, developed by the company to protect users’ online privacy when sharing highly sensitive files that could cause disaster if accessed by someone else! Other than the intended recipient, the tool encrypts and self-destructs files so that even the company itself does not know the content of the file as it will be encrypted.
Unlike many tools that perform this function, the send.firefox.com tool is considered the best as it is completely free and uses strong encryption standards that prevent access by anyone else. Files disappear automatically after 24 hours of uploading them or once the recipient downloads the file once, after which the file will be destroyed and permanently deleted from the server. Additionally, it allows sending files up to a maximum of 1 gigabyte per file. The tool is not limited to Firefox browser and can be used by all users from any other browser.
Using the tool does not require a lengthy explanation as file sharing through it is done in just three steps. Firstly, open Firefox Send on the browser, then start uploading the important file, which should be a maximum of 1 gigabyte as mentioned earlier. Note that you can upload any type of files in all formats without any issues. To upload the file, either drag and drop it into the browser window or click on the Select a file on your computer button and select the file from the Browse window that appears.
After selecting the file, the tool will upload it and encrypt it automatically, which may take some time depending on the file size. Once the upload process is complete, you will receive a custom link that you can use to share the file. You can click on the Copy to clipboard button to copy the link and then send it to the recipient, noting that this link is only available for 24 hours.
The recipient you sent the link to will be able to easily download the file with a click on the Download button, starting the download process immediately. However, once the file is downloaded, it will be automatically deleted from the site, so if you visit the custom link again, you will see a message confirming the expiration of the link. This way, you can share files securely without worrying about privacy concerns.
