Honor officially unveils its foldable phone, the Honor Magic V. All specifications and pricing.

At the end of last year, Honor confirmed that they will launch their first foldable smartphone, the Honor Magic V. While some features of this phone have already been leaked, there are still many details that need to be known.

Now, this new foldable smartphone has been introduced in China, so we already have all the official features of it. Join us to discover the Honor Magic 5, a phone that the Chinese manufacturer aims to compete with Samsung, Huawei, and OPPO.

The new Honor Magic V device did not surprise with its foldable book-like design only, but it is also equipped with powerful hardware and truly amazing camera. Let’s see in detail what this phone brings.

In 2021, there was a significant growth in the foldable phone market, meaning Samsung was not able to meet the high demand for Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3. Therefore, there are a number of manufacturers trying to find a place in this market.

With a design similar to the Galaxy Z Fold in terms of shape, the Honor Magic 5 comes with two stunning displays that justify its large size. It is lighter and surpasses the fold width of the Z Fold folded and unfolded (72.7 and 141.1 mm), although this makes it slightly thicker than its competitor, measuring 14.3 mm when closed.

Among the two screens that the Honor Magic 5 device features, you will be amazed by the brightness of 1000 nits per square meter provided by the 6.45-inch external OLED display with FullHD resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. But when you open the Honor Magic 5, you will find another amazing 7.9-inch OLED screen.

Although it slightly reduces the refresh rate (90Hz), this screen offers a resolution of 2272 × 1984 pixels, allowing you to use it as a tablet. In addition, the CEO of Honor confirmed that this screen can be folded up to 200,000 times without damage, thanks to the hinge system made up of 213 hinge parts that ensures the safety of the screen when folded.

The innovative folding technology used in this phone is not the only thing that should be highlighted. The Honor Magic 5 comes with powerful hardware, using the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor.

Moreover, this powerful octa-core processor made on 4nm technology is accompanied by 12GB of RAM and 256 or 512GB of internal storage in UFS 3.1 format, making it the most powerful foldable phone on the market.

In the photography section, the Honor Magic V device comes with 5 sensors, three of which make up the rear camera unit. In this triple camera, we find a wide angle and a hyperspectral sensor (which captures imperceptible details to the human eye), all 50 megapixels. The rectangular unit has a unique design where the upper and lower lenses are mounted on the middle lens.

The other two cameras are dedicated to selfies. One is inside a punch hole on the right side of the screen, and the other on the external panel. Both cameras are 42 megapixels with a f/2.4 aperture.

The Honor Magic V is considered a luxurious flagship, thus it covers all the connectivity features that advanced mobile phones have. It comes with the latest network technologies (WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, 5G) and global positioning systems (GPS, GLONASS, BDS, Galileo, QZSS).

The battery is large with a capacity of 4750 mAh located under the cover, and 66W fast charging which the manufacturer ensures can charge 50% of the battery in 15 minutes.

To finish with the features of this new phone, it is important to mention that it brings the latest version of the Google operating system, Android 12, and the brand’s custom layer: Magic UI 6. Unfortunately, during the presentation, it was not clarified whether the Honor Magic V will have Google services. Most likely, the Chinese version will not have them.

At the moment, the Honor Magic 5 has been introduced in China only, so there is no information about its launch and availability for the rest of the world. It is sold in the Asian country in three colors (white, black, and orange) and in two versions with different storage capacities:

– Honor Magic V 12/512 GB: $1727.
