Facebook launches Live Audio feature for all users worldwide, allowing for live streaming with audio only.

Today, Facebook launches Live Audio, a feature that was previously exclusive to creators in the United States, and now viewers around the world will be able to use it, provided they install the latest version of the Facebook app on their smartphones.

Live Audio works like a broadcast without video and when used, you will start talking directly to all your followers (and those who decide to join to listen to you). So, this is another way to interact with your followers on Facebook, and another attempt by the company to compete with Twitch.

Facebook will also launch Soundbites, a new short audio feature or you can say short stories without video. They can be used at any time and will not be exclusive to creators. These short audio recordings are designed to share stories, jokes, or any idea in less than 15 seconds.

Despite making Live Audio available to the world, at least for now, it is limited to verified Facebook accounts and public figures. Only these users will be able to create new rooms inviting other users and their audience to listen to them.

Another point to note is that Live Audio on Facebook is only available on iOS, similar to how Clubhouse started out; however, the company has already confirmed today that they are testing an Android version.
