Do not buy the first generation of Chromecast, Google is killing it and blocking updates.

In 2013, Google surprised us with its strange device called Chromecast, a small device that turns any screen into a smart TV, as its internet connectivity allows it to quickly and easily transfer content from our mobile phone to the TV screen.

The product was so successful that Google has already released 4 types of Chromecast today, divided into 3 generations, with the second generation called Chromecast Ultra for its ability to deliver 4K content.
Although Google no longer officially sells the first version of Chromecast for several years, the company continued to release updates for this device. However, now, after six years since its launch, the company has clarified that updates will not reach the first generation of Chromecast.

This means that from now on, users who have this device will not receive updates, so it is likely that this Chromecast device will not support Google Stadia, unless Google surprises us on its launch day.
9to5Google contacted Google support, and they mentioned that although the first generation of Chromecast will not receive further updates with features that will come to other Chromecast devices, the company will continue to release security updates for this device, although they will only be issued when there is a serious threat.
