Elon Musk appears to have halted his $1 million donation to voters.
PAC, owned by Elon Musk, offers a daily prize of one million dollars to a randomly registered voter in one of the many swing states who signs a petition supporting the first and second amendments. The organization also promised $47 for each registered voter who signs the petition. However, it was reported yesterday that the Department of Justice warned the group that the activity may violate federal election law, and now the donation seems to have stopped suddenly.
Axios reports that Musk’s America PAC, also known as the pro-Trump group, did not announce the winner of the million-dollar prize on Wednesday.
Critics say Musk’s donation was a covert attempt to buy votes for Trump. Voter turnout among young people in the United States is historically low, and the million-dollar donation was only available to registered voters in states such as Pennsylvania, which could go to either candidate, indicating that Musk was trying to encourage disillusioned folks to register – and return the favor for his candidate. The donation tilts the votes in favor of Trump. The Musk PAC
The timing of the Department of Justice warning was somewhat coincidental for Musk. Voter registration in Pennsylvania – where he was strongly campaigning for Trump – closed 15 days before the election, or October 21. Therefore, Musk cannot really benefit much by continuing the donation at this stage, and he can stop doing so under the current circumstances. The Justice Department’s warning comes as a relief. And perhaps the warning is considered a relief.
Musk has been increasingly vocal about the potential Harris administration, claiming that he will be thrown in jail if she wins the White House, and that “humanity will never reach Mars” under her supervision. These grim allegations come despite the fact that Musk’s companies have grown significantly under the Biden administration, with both SpaceX and Tesla receiving massive support from the federal government and achieving significant accomplishments, such as the recent landing of the “Chopstick” spacecraft. Yesterday, Tesla announced its profits for the third quarter of 2024, which included unexpected earnings of $739 million from direct sales of tax credits for electric vehicles to other car manufacturers. These tax credits are, of course, government incentives aimed at developing the electric vehicle industry.
Things are going less smoothly in his private social media company.
If we are honest, his animosity towards Harris and the Democratic Party may stem from Biden’s exclusion of him from the White House summit.
