to cover them in the “Best Programs of the Week” series on the site. After more than a month has passed since the last article in this series was published,
where we highlighted
10 new programs. In this new edition, we have selected another 10 amazing and important programs, all of them free and worth
trying and using, especially because they are free. Therefore, we believe that these programs will appeal to you
if you are a fan of discovering new programs. Let’s start reviewing them directly in
the following lines.

A Selection of Outstanding Computer Programs

Writing Tools Program

A program that aims to bring the “Writing Tools” feature that enhances your writing abilities, which is part of Apple Intelligence features, to the Windows system. Writing Tools is free and open-source, and does not require installation, it is designed to help users revise texts by rephrasing, checking, and summarizing their words wherever they write, in addition to converting data into organized tables and providing the ability to give custom commands on what the program should do with the selected text, such as translating it into another language or adding emoticons to it, and so on. The program is based on the Gemini 1.5 Flash model from Google, and therefore, it supports all languages.
After running Writing Tools for the first time, all you need to do is press the “Get API” button, which will redirect you to a page to get your API code, which acts as the link between the program and the Gemini 1.5 Flash model, so you need to log in with your Google account on this page to get the code, then copy it and add it to the designated field within the program window. You also need to customize the keyboard shortcut you want to use to call the program when needed, knowing that Ctrl + Space is the default.
After setting up the program, select any long text in any program that allows you to enter text, whether it’s Word, Notepad, Microsoft Edge, or any other program, then press the designated shortcut to display a window with a set of options to help you check, summarize, rephrase, and create key points, in addition to a field to write custom requests for what you want to change in the text. The program is very simple and does not collect any data except for sending encrypted text to Google for processing.

Charmy Program

A program that adds the Hot Corners feature – found in macOS from Apple – to Windows 11, which utilizes the four screen corners to quickly perform user-defined actions as soon as the mouse pointer moves to each corner. Charmy program is completely free and follows the design approach of Windows 11, so it integrates seamlessly with the interface as if it were part of the system itself. After running it, the program will automatically set itself to work when Windows starts up so that you don’t lose the functionality of active corners after rebooting the computer. An icon of the program will also appear next to the clock on the taskbar, double-click it to open the settings interface.
Through this interface, you can activate all screen corners or only a specific corner by selecting the available actions in each of the four available menus that mimic each screen corner! Here, we would like to add a simple note that the program does not provide a large number of actions at present, as you cannot assign an action to launch an application or make a modification in the Windows settings quickly. However, the available actions are still useful and will help you deal with Windows smoothly and quickly than usual. It is worth noting that the Charmy program supports multiple monitors, meaning that you can customize different actions for each monitor corner separately. In addition, it provides a feature to delay action execution so that it does not interfere with your regular computer usage.

DragWin Program

A small and free program that allows users to smoothly control open program windows, including resizing and moving them quickly. DragWin is completely free and does not require installation, and is designed to add simple features that Windows does not provide by default, such as the ability to quickly move windows by long-clicking anywhere inside them, or resizing windows and switching between virtual desktops (in Windows 10 and Windows 11) using other mouse buttons. After running the program, you will see its miniature icon on the taskbar next to the clock, double-click it to activate the capabilities that allow easy window control.
By default, the feature to quickly move windows is activated, so you can right-click anywhere in the window and drag it to the place you want to move the selected window. Also, by activating Resize corners, you no longer need to stop the mouse pointer at the window edge to resize it, just right-click near the edge and drag the window. By activating Opacity scrolling, you can make any open window transparent by long-pressing the Alt key on the keyboard and scrolling the mouse wheel, and by activating Wheel gesture, you can switch between desktops by clicking the mouse wheel and scrolling left and right. Such capabilities make dealing with windows in Windows very easy and practical, so we see that it is an important program to enhance your Windows experience.

DISM GUI Program

We shared with you in a previous article how to use DISM commands to fix most Windows system problems, as Microsoft provides this tool in all versions of Windows, but since DISM is a command-line tool, you need to know the right commands to use it. To simplify this process, you can download the DISM-GUI program, which allows you to run various commands to scan and repair Windows using DISM with just one click. The program provides a user-friendly interface for executing commands quickly. This eliminates the need to write commands in the command prompt, as after running it, you will find the program interface showing several buttons that, when clicked, execute the specified command in the CMD window.
The DISM-GUI program offers the most commonly used commands, such as Scan, which checks for system corruption by executing the ScanHealth command, and Restore, which looks for system problems by executing the RestoreHealth command, and also Cleanup, which executes the StartComponentCleanup command to reduce the size of WinSxS and thus save storage space on the Windows partition, and so on. Although the program is more user-friendly than directly dealing with the command prompt, DISM-GUI does not provide any documentation explaining to the user what each button does before using it, so we suggest reviewing the mentioned article before starting to use the tool on your device.

IsMyMemoryOK Program

Allows you to test the reading and writing speed of the RAM on your device quickly. IsMyMemoryOK is a portable program that does not require installation, and is completely free, you can run it on your laptop or desktop running any Windows version to check the performance and speed of the RAM regardless of the generation, whether DDR3, DDR4, DDR5, or DDR6. Once you run it, simply choose the type of test you want to perform and click “Start” to start testing the RAM. The program offers four different types of tests (Quick, Short, Long, Very Long). Each test evaluates RAM performance through read and write operations, including sequential and random access with different block sizes, as well as the access time to the written data.
The difference between the tests lies in the duration. The “Quick” test runs for about one minute and provides a quick overview of RAM performance, while the “Very Long” test performs a more detailed analysis, putting pressure on the RAM for a longer period. At the end of the test, IsMyMememoryOK displays basic performance measures like reading and writing speed and access time. You can also compare your results with other users’ results by clicking on “Comparing the results on SoftwareOK.com”.
There is also an option to check for problems and defects in the RAM. This simple test checks the RAM for defective bytes that may cause malfunctions. You can run it on demand or automatically when the program starts up. Finally, by clicking on the “IsMyMemoryOK” option in the top menu, you can save a screenshot of the test result, and in the “System” option, you will find shortcuts to some embedded Windows tools, such as the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool that also checks the RAM.
