Developer of The Wolf Among Us 2 Confirms Game is not Cancelled
The developer of The Wolf Among Us 2 has debunked the recent rumor that was circulating, originating from a post shared on Reddit that was quickly deleted. The rumor claimed that development on the game had been halted, leaving fans of the first installment shocked and disappointed.
In response, Telltale reassured fans that the highly anticipated game is not in danger of being canceled, as suggested by the recent rumor. They stated that the game will be released when it is good and ready, with the developer saying:
“We do not comment on unsubstantiated rumors and Reddit posts that are usually baseless, but it is worth noting that development on The Wolf Among Us 2 is currently ongoing. We are excited to share more details about the game with Telltale fans and our community when the time is right.”
Previous rumors also indicated that the game was in a critical stage where the only option for the development company was to delay the game. It was claimed that the game was in serious jeopardy due to budget constraints, with the studio facing funding issues for some time. There were internal discussions on whether they could continue developing the game effectively, as there was significant pressure from within the company to keep things calm while trying to figure out how to proceed with the next game project.
Naturally, the project faced its fair share of development challenges, even after being re-announced in 2019, with development having to restart from scratch. There were multiple delays in the following years, especially when transitioning to the Unreal Engine 5 last year.
Former cinematic director, Jona Huang, also confirmed large-scale layoffs at the studio in September 2023. However, following the studio’s confirmation that work is still ongoing on the highly anticipated game, it seems that the release date for this year on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and PC is currently set in stone.
