Developer of The Day Before Announces New Game Titled Items
In the past month, the developer announced the launch of a crowdfunding campaign for their game Escape Factory, seeking $15,000 for its development. However, it is not surprising that the Kickstarter campaign for Fntastic’s project failed. Nevertheless, the developers of The Day Before released a statement today, stating that they deserve a second chance and that their game Escape Factory will also be deserving.
The Kickstarter campaign for that game did not go as planned, and they decided to postpone any work on Escape Factory and cancel the funding campaign. Fortunately, this means that those who donated to Kickstarter will be able to get their money back. It was determined that no funds were collected, so there is no need to worry for those who donated about losing their money.
However, this is not the end for The Day Before developers, as they are a persevering team. Despite their comeback not being well-received, they announce that they are developing a new game. This title is a “chase action-horror game”, similar to Propnight, most likely. Propnight was one of their popular games that was well-received by players. However, they lost the rights to that game and are now working on creating their own prop hunt game called Items.
Fntastic stated that the community was asking for a prop hunt-style game, so they are working on delivering that experience again. In the announcement for Items, they mentioned that the development of the game “will require significant resources”, and as a result, they will release mobile games alongside the development of Items to ensure their ability to support the progress of that prop hunt game.
In their statement on X, they also mentioned that they “may launch a new funding campaign or explore other options for release.” While they seem somewhat optimistic about their next project, it does not mean that it will be warmly welcomed by the gaming audience. Fntastic will find it challenging to build any sense of trust with their audience after what happened with The Day Before, and heavily relying on the community to fund projects that may never see the light of day.
It remains to be seen whether Items will succeed and become a full-fledged game or not, and we just have to sit back and watch what will happen.
