Conceal Your Identity and Hide Your Number for Unknown During Outgoing Calls
Sometimes you may not want to risk your phone number falling into the wrong hands. For example, you may want to make a work-related phone call, contact a company you do not trust, or even prank your friends without revealing your number. This trick is not meant for permanent use, it is only for certain individual calls you may want to make. Your number may appear as Blocked or Unknown Number, and there are some methods to turn it into a Private Number.
There are codes you can dial before making a call to hide your number, like *67 followed by the number you are calling. However, these codes are only valid in European countries. So, let’s first discuss the easiest way through phone settings:
Open Phone Settings then search for Apps
Then search for Advanced Settings, click on Caller ID, and here you can activate the option to hide your number by enabling Hide Number or Block Number, depending on the label in your phone. The method is the same for Android and iOS phones.
In our personal experience in Egypt, this method did not work. We contacted Vodafone and Etisalat. Customer service employees explained to us that the Unknown Number service is not available in Egypt, and you need to contact the National Telecommunications Authority to request hiding or converting your phone number to a Private Number, which may require monthly or annual fees. However, you should try this feature as it may be available in your country.
In other Arab countries, this service is available for activation by contacting your phone’s customer service. They will activate the service for you or provide you with a secret code to use before your calls, for a fee deducted from your balance. So, yes, the service is available but ultimately consider it as a paid service that requires some routine procedures.
This service is even closed in North America until you get approval from customer service. So, it’s not as easy as you might think. But there is another alternative solution that will save you from all these complications related to customer service.
2- Install Phoner 2nd App
You can download and install the Phoner 2nd or Burner app, make outgoing calls from within the app, and your number will be converted to an Unknown Number or you can choose a different number from your actual one. Initially, the app provides you with a credit of only 100 points, which is not sufficient for making calls.

Therefore, you will need to purchase additional points within the app through your real balance. There are multiple payment plans, for example, the economic plan costs 36 Egyptian pounds and gives you 1000 points. Meanwhile, the bronze plan gives you 2700 points and costs 90 Egyptian pounds. You can choose the plan that suits you.
Then select your country through the country icon at the top left to automatically set the country’s dialing code. After that, you can start making calls from within the app without deducting any money from your basic package balance on your SIM card. Instead, balance is deducted from the points package integrated within the app itself. This way, you can make phone calls and display your number as an Unknown Number during your outgoing calls.

There are many apps that work in a similar way and have pricing plans that may be cheaper, but we do not have previous experience with them. However, they have a good reputation and positive results according to user reviews, for example, the Hushed or Numero app. Most of these apps initially offered free calls for a week or gave you the first 3 calls for free without any points, but most of them now require a points balance.
There are other apps that give you free points by subscribing online through the app’s website, sharing the app with your friends on social media, or watching promotional videos to increase your points balance, but it is not practical. Simply rely on the Burner or Hushed app if you want to hide your number during some of your phone calls. Otherwise, do not try to exhaust yourself in search of any alternative method unless you contact your SIM company and apply for them to convert your number to a Private Number.
