Comprehensive Review and Evaluation of the Game Stellar Blade

The official unveiling of the game Stellar Blade was years ago when we first noticed through several reports and articles the content of the game and the ideas it presented by providing comprehensive coverage of all its elements. This got us very excited to discover the final version, which was provided to us by PlayStation Middle East. After giving us the opportunity to review the game in the past few days, we were able to take a comprehensive look at its world and content in general, enabling us to offer our opinion and give you a closer look at its atmosphere and various elements through this comprehensive review.

Basic Information:

Game Title:
Stellar Blade
Development Studio: Shift Up
Publisher: Sony
Platform: PlayStation 5
Genre: Action RPG
Release Date: April 26, 2024

One of the things to delve into when reviewing Stellar Blade is certainly its main events, and here we discuss the story that takes place in a distant future thousands of years after an extraordinary event that saw a brutal faction called “the Nightiba” take over planet Earth after a war where humans were defeated and retreated to space colonies for survival.

Those who decided to leave Earth permanently as it turned into a wasteland due to fierce wars. However, after years and healing their wounds, humans decided to return to reclaim what is rightfully theirs and thus invade Earth again with combat teams composed of half-robots. This is where the game’s events begin, and the adventure starts as we take on the role of the character EVE, one of the soldiers sent to eliminate the Nightiba before finding herself on a mission to uncover the mysteries of the past and extremely shocking secrets about very exciting events.

Overall, the story is one of the important strengths that defined the game during our adventures, especially with the presence of cinematic elements and very surprising events that change the course of the story in crucial moments. In constant connection, we highlight the content of the game, as it will require around 25 to 30 hours to complete the main adventure on normal difficulty, and around 40 full hours to complete all its content along with the side content that offers a series of stages consisting of missions dedicated to side characters or exploration in the game world.

This comes in the form of gases and facts in the game world, not to mention the collection elements and the search for characters and many other activities that repeat as you progress and explore other areas, somewhat bringing a sense of boredom, especially as these side quests and activities do not offer encouraging rewards to the player and are limited to mostly cosmetic items and do not offer much.

Among the elements that cannot be overlooked is the look of the world where Stellar Blade offers an almost semi-open world, with areas that provide you with the opportunity to explore and see the remains of post-war planet Earth. We find many open areas that can be explored, including destroyed cities and settlements, abandoned train stations, and barren deserts.

Most importantly, the game offers fast travel feature as soon as you stop at rest areas that allow you to save progress and also freely travel between main areas without barriers. However, during advanced stages of the story, it becomes impossible to return to previous areas of the world, highlighting the linear element of the game’s story. Furthermore, it confirms the weakness and limitation of the exploration element in Stellar Blade, which does not offer much to the player, with rewards limited to providing limited character abilities or in-game currencies that generally become less impactful in advanced stages, and even the purchases made have very ordinary effects.

Regarding the gameplay in Stellar Blade, through previous video showcases and the previous demo version, it sent promising signals that it would indeed be enjoyable. This was confirmed during the final version of the game, which did not disappoint at all, as it provided an action-packed and fast-paced experience. The combat system primarily relies on timely blocking and mastering dodging during enemy encounters. The system is highly integrated and also allows the possibility of directing attacks using superhuman strikes and various powerful abilities and skills that can be activated by filling a special blocking gauge and dodge gauge.

We also note the presence of dozens of special abilities and skills that can be taught to the character EVE, allowing you to earn them as you progress through the game events using experience points. This remains one of the distinctive elements in the experience and encourages continuous play and exploration of the secrets of this content-rich world as mentioned earlier. We cannot talk about the gameplay system or touch on the development pieces that can be collected and used as character accessories.

Each one provides a unique advantage, but unfortunately, they do not offer any tangible addition as you play. This was the feeling we had during our experience, where the level of their impact was not clear. The same approach applies to firearms that do not add much depth to the gameplay, especially since their damage is very limited and does not replace the use of the character’s basic weapons.

Our review of the game Stellar Blade has reached its final stages, but before that, let’s talk about one of the most important elements in games in general, and that is the graphics and technical performance of the game, in addition to the sound. But let’s start with the graphics, the game uses the Unreal Engine 4 graphics engine with three graphic modes ranging from true 4K resolution at 30 frames per second or 60 frames per second, to dynamic 4K resolution mode, in addition to a balanced mode that offers high 4K resolution with stable performance at 60 frames per second.

During our experience, this was very appropriate, especially as the technical level was very respectable. On the level of graphics elements, the game excelled by relying on high quality in world and environment design, taking into account their diversity, not to mention visual effects like explosions and the physical movement of characters as well as the design of enemies and bosses during confrontations with all their details such as dismemberment.

The size and level of detail that was focused on become apparent, contributing to elevating the intensity of the confrontations automatically. The same can be said of the music and sound effects in Stellar Blade, as it offered a great variety in music, with each area of the world having its own unique music that immerses you in its atmosphere. The music is characterized by a dynamic element that changes and interacts with the ongoing event in front of you, which raises its level during enemy encounters.

It is worth noting that the game offers full support for Arabic language through texts and dialogues, which was respected in terms of its standards, including Arabic numerals that confirm that the development team tried to go to the farthest possible extent.

In conclusion, our review of the game Stellar Blade was able to deliver a very deep and enjoyable story, with dynamic gameplay elements that can keep you in front of the TV screen for long hours as you enjoy the action and excitement of facing and searching for enemies in every part of the world, in addition to the epic cinematic boss battles. This is guaranteed by the equipment of a PlayStation 5 console that has lived up to expectations, especially in terms of performance, visual effects, and detail strength in this world.

Final Rating: 8.5/10
