Surely, the first thing that comes to the mind of a user who has bought a new laptop or computer and is getting rid of the old device is how to transfer games, photos, and folders from the old computer’s hard drive to the new device. Therefore, as part of the competitions initiative provided to followers of the World of Computers blog, we collaborated with the Chinese software company EaseUS to obtain activation keys for their famous program Todo PCTrans, which is the best program for this task. The program EaseUS Todo PCTrans is a special program that allows users to save a copy of programs and games present on the old computer along with their data or save a complete partition with all its data. This copy can be transferred to the new computer to retrieve the same programs, games, and data in the new computer’s hard drive. It is not necessary to use EaseUS Todo PCTrans program only when purchasing a new computer! Even when re-installing a new Windows, through the copy saved by the program, you can restore the programs directly without reinstalling them in the new Windows. The program has some other features, such as speed in processing the data you want to save a copy of and transfer to the new device, and it is also very easy to use without requiring expertise from you.
After downloading the trial version of the program and installing it, then running it on the computer, you will be presented with two options. The first is to transfer data and programs from the old computer to the new one by connecting a network between the two devices on a single cable. The second, and the best option, is where the program saves all programs and data in a compressed file that you can transfer to the new computer using storage media. By using the same program on the new computer, all programs and data can be restored from this file. In the case of re-installing Windows, you can save this file in another partition and after installation, you can restore the data using the program as well. I will explain how to do that in the coming lines.
When you select “Via an image file” from the program’s main interface, click on “Create the image file” from the old computer to start selecting the data, programs, and partitions you want to save and transfer to the new computer as shown in the image below.
Okay, when you reach the stage of selecting the data, as shown, you will take some important steps. Firstly, select the location to save the file containing the data by using the field at the top of the program’s window. After selecting the location, in the second step, select the programs and applications you want to save by pressing the edit icon next to the Applications section. All installed programs on your computer will be displayed. Select the programs you want to save and then press OK. Thirdly, through the User data section, you can select game files, music, movies, and other data so you can select one or more partitions entirely. After finishing, click on the Save button to start creating the copy.
Saving a copy of the selected data may take some time, so you need to be patient until the saving process is completed. The time taken depends on the size and amount of data first and then on the computer resources. Anyway, the program will review the files that have been saved with a checkmark in the program’s window, and after completion, the Finish button will appear at the bottom for you to click on and exit the program. And now all you have to do is transfer this file to the new computer using storage tools.
After transferring the file to the new computer, install the EaseUS Todo PCTrans program and when you run it, click on the option Via an image file. This time, click on Transfer from the image file and then start by clicking on the button in front of Image location and selecting the location of the file. Then, click on the edit icon in front of Applications to select the programs you want to recover, and also click on the edit icon in front of User data to select the other data you want to restore. Then click on Transfer and it will start restoring everything to its place on the new computer, but after completion, you need to restart the computer.
