WhatsApp – Pioneer in specialized messaging
When messaging applications were in their infancy, WhatsApp almost monopolized the market after its launch in early 2009. Now, the application is in its strongest state, regardless of many competitors, as of October 2018, WhatsApp remains the most popular messaging application with 1.5 billion monthly users.

Some users also complain that WhatsApp consumes a lot of storage space on their devices, which can be burdensome if you only have an 8GB smartphone. Additionally, you won’t be able to edit your messages, and there are no stickers unless you install third-party apps separately.
Telegram – Leader in security
If you are looking for a messaging application that is easier to use with all the features that WhatsApp lacks (or simply can’t wait to send stickers of your face), then Telegram may be your best choice. Although this application ranks ninth among popular messengers and has only 200 million monthly users, it claims to be the fastest and most secure solution in the market. It provides all the advantages of the official WhatsApp application and modified apps like WhatsApp Plus and GB WhatsApp, among other unofficial options users resort to.
You can share files up to 1.5GB instead of just 16MB in WhatsApp. This means you can use Telegram as an additional cloud drive for images, audio recordings, or even short videos. When it comes to group chats, you can imagine creating groups of up to 100,000 members, as well as being able to edit or delete messages delivered within the next 48 hours (WhatsApp allows deletion only within 51 minutes of delivery). Perhaps the best feature of Telegram is the channels it offers.

Its creator, Pavel Durov, refused to hand over encryption keys for messages to the Russian authorities to decrypt the messages sent to users. As a result, the application was banned in Russia and is currently available only through a virtual private network (VPN).
