City Guide App ‘Foursquare’ to Shut Down Permanently by December 15
Foursquare announced the closure of its famous city guide app by December 15, after being one of the early successful apps in the Apple App Store.
This decision is part of the company’s strategy to focus on improving the user experience in the Swarm app, which will receive new features next year.
Foursquare separated from the “location check-in” service ten years ago by launching the Swarm app, while the main app transformed into a city guide offering local recommendations and user reviews.
Now, the company is once again focusing on Swarm with promises to launch new updates in early next year.
It is worth noting that the company laid off over 100 employees earlier this year as part of its efforts to “simplify” operations.
