ChatGPT Application Coming to Windows for Paid Users
OpenAI appears to be in the testing stages of the ChatGPT application designed for Windows operating system, initially available to “Plus” subscribers. You can now download the early application from the Microsoft Store.
The new version, like its counterpart on macOS, will allow you to run the famous artificial intelligence robot in a dedicated window on your desktop, making it easier to interact with ChatGPT without visiting the official website.
The application features the ability to upload files and images during the conversation, as well as access to the advanced o1 model that includes inference capabilities. Although the application may lack some features present in the web version, they are expected to arrive soon.
After launching the ChatGPT application on macOS in June, a security vulnerability was discovered that led to storing conversations in plain text, but OpenAI fixed the issue and the stored data is now locally encrypted.
Although the application is currently available only to ChatGPT Plus, Enterprise, Team, and Edu subscribers, OpenAI plans to expand availability to all users later this year.
