Changing the language individually for applications on [Android and iPhone] phones

By default, any application you use on your smartphone, whether it’s Android or iPhone, will use the same language that you set when you first set up the phone. For example, if you set English as the default display language for the phone, all applications will use this language as long as it is supported. However, if you want to set specific languages for individual applications without having to change the default language of the phone, such as having WhatsApp and Facebook in Arabic while other apps are in English, for example, you can do so through very simple steps. Let’s review them starting from the following lines.

Changing the language of applications individually on Android phones

Some external Android apps, or those downloaded from the Play Store, include an option to change the display language without changing the basic phone language. For example, in the “Telegram” app, if you go to the “Settings” page, you will find a custom option to adjust the language of the app to any of the supported languages.
Therefore, it depends on whether the app developer has provided the ability to change the language from its settings or not. The first thing you should do when you want to change the language of a specific app is to search for the “Language” option in the settings page and then select the desired language. The app’s content will be displayed in the language you selected immediately or after restarting the app. But if you cannot find this option, you can take advantage of the “App Language” feature in Android 13.
The new Android 13 update includes many features that we have previously reviewed, one of them being a feature that allows you to change the language of apps individually from the phone settings. However, support for this feature depends on the app developers themselves, and since it is a new feature, it has not been adopted by a large number of well-known apps yet. Nevertheless, to use this feature after updating your phone to Android 13 (or One UI 5 on Samsung phones), go to “Settings” and then go to the “Apps” section and select one of the apps from the list.
After clicking on the app and opening the “App Info” page, you will find an option “Language,” which means that this app supports the new feature added by Android 13. If you click on this option, a complete list of languages will appear, and you can select the display language for this app only [as shown in the image above]. That’s all there is to it! The app will use the language you selected to display its content. This feature is very useful for helping apps provide a better experience for those who are multilingual.

Changing the language of each app individually on iPhone

Starting from the iOS 13 update, iPhones have a “Preferred Language” option in the settings page for all apps installed from the App Store, allowing you to set the language of each app individually without changing the basic phone language. First, make sure to add multiple languages to the phone by going to “Settings” and then tapping on “General” and then “Language & Region” in the “Preferred Language Order” section, make sure the language you want to use in one of the apps is added. Simply click on “Add Language” and select the language from the list.
Then, go back to the main settings screen and scroll down to see the list of installed apps, click on the app you want to edit the language for, then click on the “Language” option and select the display language for this app only. If the phone’s primary language is Arabic, you can select English or French for the app. Once you’re done, restart the app and you will find that all essential elements are displayed in the language you selected.
