Campaign to Remove Pre-Orders for Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Due to Denuvo

Denuvo is one of the most controversial anti-cheat software, but it is effective and used by video game developers. The digital rights management is known to impact game performance, but Irdeto – the company behind the software – disagrees with the rumors and believes that its protection system does not affect game performance at all.

On the other hand, gamers were really excited about Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, but some are no longer excited, primarily because of the addition of Denuvo to the game, leading some to cancel their pre-orders.

After hearing the news that Denuvo will be integrated into the game and that the game will not be available on GOG store, many gamers were greatly disappointed, with some even claiming to cancel their pre-orders after years of anticipation, showing their strong dislike for digital rights management technology.

Some gamers hope that Denuvo will be removed in the future because the protection software currently costs $25,000 monthly, so spending such a huge amount and sacrificing performance may not be the best option here. One player mentioned on social media:

Denuvo is a huge disappointment for me. For me, it’s a deal of “buy the game after a year of release once these things are removed.”

It is worth noting that GoG is a DRM-free store, which is why this game is not released on the platform. Considering that developers use Denuvo protection to prevent game piracy and achieve strong sales at launch, it seems that the situation has now reversed, as gamers threaten to not buy Denuvo games until at least a year has passed. Most companies ditch the software after that period without a clear reason, but it seems that performance is indeed affected negatively.
