Burning Windows onto a USB Flash Drive While Keeping Your Files and Without Formatting
There are articles and topics on the distinguished Computer World website that have addressed how to burn Windows copies to a flash memory, such as the articles of Professor Mahmoud Moneer burning Windows on a flash memory without programs, 4 programs to burn multiple operating systems on one flash memory, and an article titled Learn how to partition your flash drive into multiple disks (installing Windows + programs, etc.), and also an article titled burning a Windows image on a flash memory through DOS, and many other wonderful and distinguished articles on the Computer World website. Our lesson today will require a very small and wonderful program to help us burn a copy of Windows without formatting the USB flash drive and retaining the files on the flash drive without conflicting with Windows files.
EasyBCD program can be downloaded and once downloaded, we install it in a normal way. An icon will appear on the desktop. We click on it to open the program, and a small window will appear where we choose the language. As mentioned in the program’s features, it supports Arabic and many other languages. Here, we choose Arabic and click Go to display a message stating that the program is free to use and not for commercial purposes. We agree, and then the main interface of the program appears. We close the program for now to return to it later.
The next step is to decompress the Windows version that you want to burn to the flash drive, using a decompression program such as Winrar or Power ISO. This will convert the compressed Windows version into a file containing all Windows files. For me, I will only decompress the compressed Windows version using Winrar to extract the files into a new file with the same name as the ISO version.
Important Note: You must close all security programs during the process of decompressing the ISO version and even during the process of transferring Windows files later. Some security programs may consider some files, especially EXE files, as viruses and delete them. Also, to prevent any file loss and ensure the completion of the full version.
After transferring all Windows files to the flash drive, we will now proceed with the burning process using the EsayBCD program to isolate Windows files inside the flash drive from other regular files or videos, and to avoid any conflicts between them, turning the flash drive into a boot tool. We open the program, and its simple and straightforward main interface appears, and we need to follow the following steps:
- Click on the “Publish BCD” option
- Choose the flash drive from the menu, and make sure to double-check the flash drive code – for example, it might be H
- Then click on “Install BCD”
- A small window will appear indicating the start of the conversion and isolation process and setting up the flash drive for booting. We need to wait for this process to complete
This process does not take a long time, just a few minutes until a message appears indicating the successful completion of converting the flash drive into a bootable drive with regular files. We click “YES” to finish, then close the program.
This is the final image of the flash drive with Windows files plus regular files. I have highlighted the regular files for your reference within a red frame for differentiation with Windows files. Now, we need to restart the computer and boot from this flash drive to ensure the success of the process. I have tried this method, and it worked for me. It may work for you or not depending on how accurately you follow the steps, and the flash drive should be in good condition without any issues.
In conclusion, we have learned this simple and easy method to burn Windows to a flash drive without formatting and retain other normal files like videos or any other files that may conflict with Windows files using this wonderful program. Goodbye for now, and see you in future lessons. Thank you.
