Bloober Team Studio Admits: We Have Released Bad Games Before Silent Hill 2 Remake

Bloober Team stated that they are aware of the mixed reputation of some of their previous games and that the company is done making “bad” games. Speaking to GameSpot following the announcement of the horror game Cronos: The New Dawn, the team behind the Silent Hill 2 remake expressed their desire to move away from their previous reputation of delivering bad games and to emulate the critical and commercial success achieved by Silent Hill 2. The team aims to prove that the Silent Hill 2 remake will not be a mere stroke of luck.

“We want to find our place, and we believe we have found it, so now – let’s evolve with it.” “How that happens is more complicated, but it also happens in some way, as it did with the game Layers of Fear [2016], people in the studio were saying: ‘Okay, we’ve made some bad games before, but we [can] evolve’.”
Co-director Wojciech Piejko added:
“We’ve gathered a team that loves horror.” “So I think for us, it won’t be easy to transition [to other genres], and we don’t want that.”
The latest game from Bloober Team, the Silent Hill 2 remake, was released earlier this month to widespread critical acclaim and currently holds an 87 score on Metacritic. You can read our review of the game here, and here’s the gist:
Tension, horror, and excitement, Silent Hill 2 returns as if it never left, with a story that still holds its charm, enjoyable puzzles, enhanced gameplay mechanics, and a more vivid and terrifying world that only lacks greater enemy variety and boss battles.
