Black Myth: Wukong can be said to be the most successful game of 2024, it is the most played game ever on Steam in single-player story games and has garnered a huge fan base. However, the game was intentionally excluded from most Western game awards, yet it won the Game of the Year title nonetheless.
The Chinese RPG game won the Game of the Year title at the 2024 Thai Game Awards, not only that, it also won awards for Best Action Game, Best Game Direction, Best PC and Console Game, which is quite an achievement considering the limited development costs and coming from a relatively inexperienced team compared to Western or Japanese game studios.
Other games like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth won the award for Best RPG game, The Land Beneath Us won the award for Best Thai Game, FC24 won the award for Best Sports Game, and Zenless Zone Zero won the award for Best Mobile Game.
It remains to be seen if Black Myth Wukong is among the contenders for the Game of the Year award at the biggest and most anticipated event, The Game Awards, next December.
