Beyond Good & Evil 2 still in development – 16 years after the official announcement

The long-awaited game Beyond Good & Evil 2 from Ubisoft is still in development, with a new creative director appointed to lead the project that was first revealed in 2008. Since then, it has been confirmed to be in development without any significant progress.
Despite the intermittent development cycle that has spanned nearly 20 years, Ubisoft seems committed to finally completing Beyond Good & Evil 2 by appointing veteran Fawzi Mesmar as the new creative lead for the game.
Mesmar has been with Ubisoft for almost the same duration as the development of Beyond Good & Evil 2, and a Ubisoft spokesperson told Eurogamer today:
With over 20 years of experience as an award-winning game designer and creative director, Mesmar has played a key role in the successful launch of over 20 video games.
Mesmar previously collaborated with the Beyond Good & Evil 2 team as deputy editor-in-chief, and in his new role, he focuses on continuing to build on the vision set by our late friend and colleague Emile Morel.
It has been over a year since Ubisoft last stated that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still in development despite the various changes in the publisher, and the game has not been showcased in any form during that period.
