Best nighttime activities in the game Metaphor: ReFantazio with a guide on how to pass the Courage Test (At Your Own Risk Challenge)
What can you do at night in the game Metaphor: ReFantazio?
Similar to the Persona series, the game Metaphor: ReFantazio features a calendar-based time system, meaning you are bound by a specific schedule. If you want to complete the game 100%, you must make effective use of every day and night. While there are many activities that can be done during the day, the game offers a variety of activities that can only be enjoyed at night. This guide covers everything you can do at night to maximize your progress in Metaphor: ReFantazio.
What do you do at night in Metaphor: ReFantazio?
You should strategically use the night hours to balance your character development and social life. Here are some activities you should focus on during the night:
Upgrade Your Followers
There are two of the hero’s followers: Brigitta and Alonzo, who are primarily active during the night. In fact, Brigitta rarely appears during the day and is often seen at night. This is the perfect time to talk to her and increase her rank. When you reach rank 8 with Brigitta, you will unlock the wealthy merchant Archetype Tycoon character.
While most other followers are not seen at night, some of them, including members of your team, may have tasks or activities related to night at least once.
Increase Your Royal Virtues
The five Royal Virtues form the hero’s journey path and determine his success in the Tournament for the Throne. You can increase most of these virtues, like Courage, during both day and night, but some virtues are easier to level up at night.
For example, you can use the night hours to:
- Increase Wisdom by observing city landmarks.
- Increase Imagination by spending time with Strohl and Heismay.
- Increase Eloquence by participating in debates at Martira Podium.
Watch Performances at the Opera House
For those who have reached advanced stages of the game, especially in October, you can spend the evening watching a performance at the Opera House in Altabury Heights. The Opera House becomes available after completing events in Altabury, and there are a variety of performances to choose from. Attending a performance can also increase one of your chosen Royal Virtues.
Spend Time at the Hot Springs
While in Altabury Heights, you can relax and rejuvenate by soaking in the hot springs at night. The Altabury Hot Springs become available towards the end of the game, specifically in early October. To unlock this feature, you will need to complete a side quest given by a non-playable NPC in Altabury, requiring you to bring a bottle of hot spring water. After completing the quest, you can visit the hot springs and spend your nights relaxing in the water.
How to Pass the Courage Test (At Your Own Risk Challenge) in Metaphor ReFantazio
In the game Metaphor ReFantazio, players must complete the Courage Test to unlock the At Your Own Risk reward. The game features over 40 rewards, some of which are unlocked as you progress through the story, while others can be missed. Usually, the rewards are associated with events in the game that occur on specific dates or through completing optional activities for non-playable characters (NPC). The At Your Own Risk reward is one of the rewards that can be missed.
Completing the Courage Test is relatively easy, but it is also easy to miss, which may prevent you from collecting all the rewards in the game. Here’s everything you need to know about this test and how to unlock the At Your Own Risk reward associated with it.
How to Complete the Courage Test and Unlock the At Your Own Risk Reward
To complete the Courage Test, players must find the Spirited Youth character in the Thoroughfare Square in Martira. Once Martira City is unlocked, head north from the market until you see a wooden platform on the cliff with non-playable characters NPCs standing next to it.
As you approach the characters, you can interact with one of them, the Spirited Youth character, who will offer you a simple challenge. You must bungee jump from the wooden platform to test your courage. The Spirited Youth will tell you that you will be better off with courage, and will ask you for a fee of 250 reeve to attempt the jump.
After choosing “I’ll take the Plunge”, a cutscene will show and you will be rewarded with an increase in the Courage Virtue statistic. To unlock the At Your Own Risk reward, players need to attempt the challenge three times, as the ropes become thinner with each attempt and the fee increases to 500 reeve.
Upon completing the final attempt, players will receive an additional increase in the Courage statistic, as well as a reward called Foreign Coin. Completing the final attempt will also unlock the At Your Own Risk reward in Metaphor ReFantazio.
Tip:
The activity requires a high level of courage, and it is advisable to be at rank 5 in the final attempt. Therefore, it is recommended to increase the Courage statistic before qualifying to participate in the activity.
