Best Game Recording Software – Part Two

Continuing our article:
4- Nvidia GeForce Experience (ShadowPlay)
There is a built-in tool in many Windows computers, especially those with Nvidia GeForce graphics cards, called GeForce Experience. This multifunctional application allows you to update your Nvidia drivers, optimize game performance, and also includes a built-in feature for recording games and even live streaming, allowing you to share gameplay with others. This application is similar to Xbox Game Bar in that it is a simple and user-friendly option for everyone, but it provides additional features that make it slightly better.
Among the additional features, there is more precise control over video quality and recording resolution, which is a significant feature if you want to record high-quality videos. Additionally, you can include your webcam feed in your recording, and even change the camera position for the video within the game, which is a useful feature if you do not want the camera to cover important elements in the game’s user interface.
However, Nvidia’s tool may face some compatibility issues with some games, especially older games, so it may not work well in some cases. Additionally, using the tool requires having an Nvidia graphics card.
5- AMD Radeon Record & Stream (formerly ReLive)
If you have a modern AMD graphics card, you already have everything you need to start recording games or live streaming because Radeon Software, which provides graphics card drivers, also includes a powerful built-in recording program. The Record & Stream tab within the application is very similar to other programs like OBS, showing a large section for previewing what is being recorded or streamed, along with settings to adjust microphone, webcam, and other important aspects.
One of the strong features of Record & Stream is the ability to choose the windows or screens you want to record, or even specify a certain area of the screen if you are creating tutorials. This makes it comparable to programs like OBS or XSplit, as it can record any content on the screen, while tools like Steam or Nvidia ShadowPlay can only record the game itself.
It is important to note that the Record & Stream tab will only appear if you have a dedicated AMD graphics card, and it will not work on Accelerated Processing Units (APUs) (a type of processor that combines the Central Processing Unit (CPU) and Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) in one chip).
In addition to game recording, you can also live stream to several popular streaming sites. You can also add an overlay to display chat or other features during the stream. The Live Stream tab allows you to add different scenes and easily switch between them, as well as integrate services like StreamElements to provide a more interactive experience for viewers.
The program gives you full control over recording settings such as bit rate, encoding type, and sound levels, making it an easy choice to start your live streaming journey. Even if you do not want to live stream, you can take advantage of features like Instant Replay, Instant GIF, and In-Game Replay to capture awesome gameplay moments with a press of a button.
6- Bandicam
Bandicam is a somewhat popular option for game recording, and it is a powerful choice. Unlike some other tools like OBS Studio, Bandicam focuses on video recording only, without offering features for live streaming. The program is less complex than other options, but it still includes all the necessary tools for recording high-quality game videos.
Bandicam offers many options for video quality and the encoding used in recording, and it has a simple and easy-to-understand interface that clearly explains the function of each option. While not intended for live streaming, it supports external devices like capture cards, allowing you to record footage from consoles as well. You can also include system audio and microphone, along with some other options. The program is simple and does not overwhelm the user when using it, but it still has enough features.
The main drawback with Bandicam is that it is a paid program, but the free version allows you to record up to 10 minutes with a watermark, which is not too bad. You can purchase an annual license or a lifetime license to unlock all the program’s features.
7- XSplit Broadcaster
While OBS Studio is the most famous tool for game recording and live streaming, it is not without competitors. XSplit is another popular tool and stands out with an easy user interface and many capabilities similar to OBS.
You can use XSplit for streaming or recording games, and you can add various video sources, such as recording games from the computer or using a capture card, in addition to adding a webcam or other content. With its more organized and simple interface when first launched, it may be easier for beginners to understand.
In terms of capabilities, XSplit is quite similar to OBS, offering many options for video and audio quality, along with expected sources. However, things here are slightly simpler, making it easier to learn but also less customizable compared to OBS. The main downside is that video clips and live streams will contain a watermark unless you pay a monthly fee of $5. But if you find OBS complex, XSplit is an excellent alternative.
