Apple unveils new experimental updates with artificial intelligence features
Apple has announced the release of new beta updates for developers, including beta versions of iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2 for iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices respectively. These updates aim to provide new features that enhance the user experience, especially in relation to the set of artificial intelligence features known as Apple Intelligence.
Among the notable new features identified in the update is the Genmoji expression face generation feature, which allows users to easily create custom emojis through the keyboard. This feature can be accessed by pressing the Genmoji button, allowing users to input a description to create the desired emoji. The system will display multiple options to choose from, and these emojis can be used as quick responses to messages, as well as the ability to create emojis based on friends’ photos and images stored on the phone.
Apple is also looking to enhance user experience by introducing an API for the Genmoji feature, allowing third-party messaging apps like WhatsApp and Telegram to display these emojis.
Additionally, Apple introduces the Image Playground feature, accessible from the Messages app, allowing users to create images based on conversations, text descriptions, or gallery images using artistic styles such as animations and illustrations, although creating realistic images of people is currently not available.
The Image Wand feature has also been added to Apple Pencil’s smart tools, helping to transform simple drawings into detailed artworks.
Interestingly, Apple has also integrated the ChatGPT smart robot into its personal assistant Siri, allowing users to request Siri to create a travel plan or training program, with the assistant suggesting using ChatGPT to complete these tasks. It is worth noting that the use of ChatGPT is optional and does not require a special account, as Apple has entered into an agreement with OpenAI to ensure that users’ personal data is not stored or used for model training.
In addition to integrating ChatGPT, Apple provides new writing tools including options like paraphrasing, summarizing, and language checking.
Users of iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro will be able to experience the Visual Intelligence feature, which allows the use of the camera to get answers to math problems or information about surrounding items by searching the internet, similar to Google’s Visual Search feature.
It is worth mentioning that all these new features will be available for iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16, as well as Mac computers and iPad devices running Apple Silicon M chipset.
