Apple is two years behind in the artificial intelligence race compared to its competitors.

Recent reports from Bloomberg Agency indicate that Apple internally believes it is at least two years behind in developing artificial intelligence technologies compared to other leading companies. The reports revealed internal studies showing the underperformance of its smart assistant “Siri” compared to advanced models like ChatGPT.
According to these studies, ChatGPT is 25% more accurate than “Siri” and can answer 30% of the questions that Siri is unable to process. This performance gap is raising concerns among some employees within Apple, who believe the company needs more time to narrow this technological gap.
However, throughout Apple’s long history, it has demonstrated the ability to bridge technological gaps as it has done in various areas like maps. The company has the capability to develop technology internally, attract experts, or even acquire innovative companies to enhance its capabilities in the field of artificial intelligence.
Apple has taken its first steps in this field by announcing the “Apple Intelligence” AI feature set during the WWDC 2024 developer conference. These features include technologies such as notification summaries, an updated experience for the personal assistant “Siri,” as well as innovative tools like photo generation and emoji generation “Genmoji.”
In a strategic move, Apple has announced its partnership with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT capabilities into its operating systems such as iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, providing users with an additional option to benefit from AI technologies without imposing them mandatorily.
With time, it is expected that all Apple devices equipped with AI-compatible displays will be available by 2026. Additionally, the iPhone SE will be equipped with the A18 chip in March next year, and the base iPad will be updated by 2025 to be able to handle these advanced technologies.
