Apple allows removal of App Store and Safari browser from iPhone in Europe

Apple will release a new update for the iOS system that will allow iPhone and iPad users in Europe to have the freedom to delete pre-installed company apps such as the App Store, Safari browser, camera, and Messages, according to a new report.

The update is in response to the European Digital Markets Act, providing greater flexibility in controlling core apps while keeping the phone and settings apps as fixed elements. Users will be able to restore deleted apps through a new section in the settings.

The beta version iOS 18.2, currently available for iPhone 15 Pro and later models, offers new features including Image Playground, Genmoji, integration with ChatGPT, and visual search for the iPhone 16 series. It also allows users in Europe to download alternative app stores.

Users worldwide will receive a new list to set default apps for mail, messages, and calls, with the update expected to be released to the public in December.
