Secret Chats
One of the best features in Telegram is “Secret Chats,” which we have previously explained how to use in detail. This feature aims to protect specific chats and maintain the privacy and confidentiality of the information within them through several security measures that distinguish the chat history from any regular chat. For example, screenshots cannot be taken or “Forwarded,” and there is a “Destruction Timer” feature that allows messages to be automatically deleted from the recipient’s phone after a certain time. Additionally, all messages within that chat are encrypted by both parties and not synchronized with Telegram servers.
Using Proxy Servers through Settings
Some countries block the use of certain chat apps without a valid reason, which may prompt some users to use a proxy server to access those banned apps. Telegram provides a direct way to connect through a proxy server within the app by entering the server data once. To do this, go to settings, then select “Data and Storage,” and finally, “Proxy Settings.” Activate the “Use Proxy” option to enable the feature and click on “Add Proxy” to add the server data.
Customizing Chat Screen
While WhatsApp offers some settings to customize the chat interface, Telegram provides more customization options. Through settings and then selecting “Chat Settings,” you can customize almost everything on the chat screen, from font size, background color, message window shape, and text inside each window, to controlling emoji size or even setting an image as a background. This allows you to completely change the chat screen interface and preview the changes directly at the top of the page.
You can also automatically customize the night mode settings through the “Auto night mode” option, where you can adjust the interface and colors to suit nighttime app usage to avoid eye strain. These settings will be automatically activated through different modes. For example, you can link the activation of night mode to a specific time through the “Scheduled” option, or link it to the phone screen’s brightness level through the “Adaptive” option. Therefore, when reducing the brightness at night, the app’s night mode will be automatically activated. Finally, you can link the activation of night mode to the operating system through the “System Default” option.
Multiple Accounts in the Same App
Since most phones currently support dual SIM cards, most users have two phone numbers. Therefore, Telegram allows you to add more than one separate account within the same app, a feature that is not directly available with WhatsApp. While some resort to alternative solutions like simulation apps or using WhatsApp Business to run two phone numbers on the same device, it is very simple and direct with Telegram. From the main menu of the Telegram app, you can press the “Add Account” option and add the account number for verification. You can operate two accounts on the same phone and app and receive messages normally on both accounts.
Larger Community with Chat Groups
Of course, any chat app provides the ability to create chat groups to chat with more than one friend within the same conversation and share files and information. You can create a chat group through WhatsApp and add up to 256 people to it, but Telegram offers a larger community for those groups. Initially, you can create chat groups and invite up to 200,000 members, which is an astonishing number that allows you to imagine the size of the virtual community that will be created within Telegram with ease.
You can also create or follow what is called “Channels,” which is similar to groups but for an infinite number of users. This can be compared to YouTube channels that also broadcast content to an infinite number of users. Websites and public services often create channels to broadcast information to their followers. Additionally, you can search for any community or topic you like within the app and find many related groups to participate in without any restrictions and get to know everything new about your interests in any field.
Using “Bots” Add-ons
In my opinion, this feature is one of the best features in Telegram. The “Bots” feature can be likened to browser add-ons, as they are small programs or applications that some developers have programmed to allow you to add new features to the app or perform a task quickly and easily during the chat.
Each of these add-ons has its own name, usually starting with the “@” symbol, and to use these add-ons, you must obtain this name. You can get the “Bots” through various ways, such as searching the internet for a list of the best “Bots” for Telegram or sharing them with friends. You can also search directly within the Telegram app for anything you want to do. By clicking on the relevant search result related to what you want, make sure to find the word “Bot” below its name.
By accessing the “Bots” window through the search results, you will find brief information about what that add-on can do for you. By clicking on the “Start” option at the bottom or typing the command “start/” you can start using it immediately. Some notable examples of these add-ons include the “Gamebot” for challenging friends with simple games, saving Facebook video clips with “fbvideodownloadbot,” and downloading stickers with “Stickers.”
