Adobe announces the launch of free Fresco app to attract professional artists.

Adobe has announced a bold move to attract professional artists to its creative platform by making the drawing and coloring app, Fresco, available for free to everyone. This decision aims to enhance competition with popular apps like Procreate and Clip Studio Paint, which offer diverse options for digital art and simulate realistic drawing tools, such as pencils and watercolors.

Fresco from Adobe is specifically designed for touch-enabled devices or digital pens, and is available for iPhones, iPads, and Windows computers. While the company previously offered a free version of the app, advanced features like access to the full Adobe Fonts library, a wide range of brushes, and the ability to import custom brushes required a yearly subscription costing ten US dollars.

In contrast, the competing app, Procreate, followed a one-time purchase model with a price of thirteen US dollars. However, starting today, users can access all the features in Fresco for free, without needing a subscription.

Fresco was first launched in 2019 but did not gain widespread fame like other Adobe apps such as Photoshop and Illustrator, known for their more complex and professional design tools. This move may help Adobe attract new users to the app, despite the popularity of competing apps like Procreate, Clip Studio Paint, and Krita in the digital art community, where these apps stand out for their reasonable prices, ease of use, and support for low-cost iPad devices.
