We brought you news hours ago about the development of a Rayman remake by the Prince of Persia team, and unusually, Ubisoft quickly responded to this rumor and confirmed its accuracy in an official statement.
Ubisoft said in an official statement to Kotaku:
Recently, Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan studios have been exploring the Rayman brand anew. We will share more details later as the project is still in a very early stage.
Ubisoft did not stop at this level of details, but confirmed the involvement of the series’ creator, Michel Ancel, in the project in some way despite his retirement 4 years ago, and the publisher continued:
As the creator of the Rayman brand, Michel Ancel is currently being consulted regarding the project.
Ubisoft did not confirm or deny whether we are getting a completely new Rayman game or if the company has decided to remake the series in a different way with many changes, but in any case, the title is still in early development stages and it will take several years before a full reveal.
